November 28, 2021 - Round 12 MVP: William Howard, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne

william howardWilliam Howard of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne will never forget his Round 12 performance against AS Monaco. Howard led ASVEL to a thrilling 84-85 victory, burying the game-winning shot from almost midcourt and earning the Round 12 MVP honor in the process. Howard finished the game with career highs of 23 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and a performance index rating of 33 that was the highest among all EuroLeague players this round. He was also near-perfect while shooting in 3 of 5 two-pointers, 5 of 5 triples and 2 of 4 free throws. He topped it all off with what was arguably one of the most spectacular game-winning shots in competition history to claim the MVP of the Round honor for the first time in his EuroLeague career. Georgios Papagiannis of Panathinaikos OPAP Athens followed with a PIR of 31, his new career-high, in a 70-64 home win over Zenit St Petersburg. Papagiannis tied his personal best with 18 points, making 8-of-9 two points shots, and also posted 13 rebounds and 4 blocks, both of them the second-best totals of his career. One of the most passionate club rivalries in world basketball, the Istanbul derby, takes the stage for Thursday's Game of the Week with much still to be learned this season about two protagonists who've had an outsized influence on Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in recent years. For the first time in six seasons under the EuroLeague's round-robin format, neither host Fenerbache Beko Istanbul nor visiting champions Anadolu Efes Istanbul occupy an eventual playoff position in the standings at the one-third mark on the 34-game calendar. November 22, 2021 - Round 11 MVP: Lorenzo Brown, UNICS Kazan

lorenzo brownA stunning individual performance in a winning effort allowed Lorenzo Brown of UNICS Kazan to earn Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 11 MVP honors. Brown led UNICS to an 85-71 home victory against ALBA Berlin with a PIR of 31. He finished the game with 21 points on 7-of-11 two-pointers, 2-of-4 three-pointers and 1-of-1 free throws, tying his career high with 9 assists, along with 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 fouls drawn. It was the first MVP of the Round award in his career, and he became the fifth UNICS players to earn this honor, after Vladimir Veremeenko, D'Or Fischer, Keith Langford - who did it three times in a UNICS jersey - and Latavious Williams, the last UNICS player to achieve it in 2017. Elsewhere, Kostas Sloukas of Olympiacos Piraeus had a PIR of 29 in his team's home victory against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Sloukas finished the game with 18 points on 8-of-8 free throws, adding 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 9 fouls drawn. Nicolas Laprovittola of FC Barcelona and Mario Hezonja of UNICS each had a PIR of 28 in Round 11. Laprovittola tied a club record with 7 three-pointers made, and had 25 points and 7 rebounds in Barcelona's 60-80 win against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. Read more here.





November 18, 2021 - Round 11

Home-court advantage came to the fore in Round 10 – the first of two rounds being played in the third week of November. Only one team, Real Madrid, managed to win on the road while eight other teams celebrated with their fans. Among the major highlights were Zalgiris capturing its first win of the season, UNICS knocking off top-ranked Milan and Barcelona surviving a thriller against CSKA. The results left a three-way tie atop the standings between Milan, Barcelona and Real with 8-2 records with Zenit and Maccabi, which both won at home, one win behind. Read more here.

November 18, 2021 - Round 10 MVP: Scottie Wilbekin, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv

scottie wilbekinScottie Wilbekin turned in a transcendent performance on Wednesday night to lead Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv to a 95-84 victory over AS Monaco and win MVP honors for Round 10 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season. Wilbekin set a career-high and tied a club record with 37 points. He made 7 of his 10 two-point shots, 6 of 12 shots from downtown and 5 of 6 free throws. Wilbekin also dished 8 assists, swiped 2 steals and drew 4 fouls in compiling a performance index rating of 37, which was the highest of any player in the round. It marks the third MVP of the round in Wilbekin’s career and his second this season. Sharing the runner-up spot for Round 10 were Rodrigue Beaubois of Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Jordan Loyd of Zenit St Petersburg, both with PIRs of 33. Beaubois scored a career-high 29 points on 7-of-10 three-point shooting in an 88-69 victory over Olympiacos Piraeus. Loyd racked up a season-high 25 points plus 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals in a 75-66 win over ALBA Berlin. Rounding out the round’s best performances were Steven Enoch of Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Donta Hall of Monaco. Enoch helped his team defeat Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade 93-74 with 23 points, 11 rebounds and a PIR of 32. Hall posted 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks for a PIR of 29. Read more here.

The games keep on coming with another two-round week of action, featuring some epic battles between heavyweights of European basketball. FC Barcelona (7-2) recovered from back-to-back losses in impressive style last week, thrashing Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz to remain perfect at home and stay in a share of second place. Similarly, CSKA Moscow (5-4) shrugged off a three-game losing streak by grinding out a gritty victory over Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Read more here.

nikola miroticOn the night he was presented with the MVP trophy for the month of October, FC Barcelona forward Nikola Mirotic had one of the most efficient games of his career as he led his team to a big 93-67 win over Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and earned the MVP of the Round 9 honor in the process. Mirotic spent only 18 minutes and 20 seconds on the floor on Thursday night, but still finished with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Impressively, Mirotic knocked down 4 two-pointers and three-pointers apiece on perfect shooting, and also made 5-of-6 free throws. He finished with a performance index rating of 37, tied for his career-best, and the highest in Round 9. In that same game, Baskonia center Steven Enoch had a PIR of 35. He collected 22 points plus 8 rebounds, 1 block and 8 drawn fouls. The next best index rating, 28, belongs to the 2020-21 EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic of Anadolu Efes Istanbul. In a 63-90 road win over ALBA Berlin, Micic shined with 19 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Round 9 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague will see five teams currently tied for second place attempt to maintain their high position, while the sole leader faces a tough test on the road. After a run of three consecutive heavy losses, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (3-5) will be looking for a reaction when it travels for an all-Spanish League affair at FC Barcelona (6-2) on Thursday. chris jonesA week after Elie Okobo of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne took Round 7’s MVP award, in Round 8 it was the turn of his teammate Chris Jones to step into the spotlight as he excelled in an 85-82 home win over UNICS Kazan. Jones scored a career-high 25 points with most of his success coming inside, as he converted 8-of-10 two-point attempts. He also made 6-of-7 free throws and 1-of-4 three-pointers. The ASVEL guard added 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal for a PIR of 27, the best of all winning players this week. The two top individual performances in Round 8, though, came from players who ended up on the losing team. CSKA Moscow’s Will Clyburn had a PIR of 34 in his team’s home loss to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, combining 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots; and Mario Hezonja of UNICS contributed 27 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists for a PIR of 29 in the loss to ASVEL. Derrick Williams of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals for a PIR of 26 in a road win over Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. Completing the list of the top performers in Round 8 are four players with PIR 23: Jan Vesely of Fenerbahce, Guerschon Yabusele of Real Madrid, Tyler Dorsey of Olympiacos Piraeus and Luke Sikma of ALBA Berlin. Round 8 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague roars into action on Thursday and Friday with a selection of top-class games including a meeting of the current co-leaders. After suffering their first defeats of the season last week, co-leaders AX Armani Exchange Milan and FC Barcelona (both 6-1) meet for a titanic tussle in the Italian fashion capital on Thursday night. In addition to pitting the competition's pace-setters, the game is also a rematch of last season's thrilling semifinal when Cory Higgins struck a nerveless game-winner to send Barcelona to the title game. November 2, 2021 - MVP for October: Nikola Mirotic, FC Barcelona

nikola miroticOnly one team, FC Barcelona, made it through the first six rounds of the regular season undefeated, and one player had the most to say about that, do-it-all forward Nikola Mirotic, who is EuroLeague Basketball's choice as the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP for October. Even in his worst game of October, the sole one among seven in which his performance index rating dipped to single digits, Mirotic was the hero, making a buzzer-beater in traffic to seize the win. Otherwise, he was as solid as solid gets, leading Barca in scoring and PIR in three more victories and ranking second in one or the other category for the team's remaining two wins. At month's end, Mirotic had amassed the highest PIR total of all EuroLeague players, 144, and the fifth-most points, 114, despite ranking 27th in minutes played. Read more here.





October 30, 2021 - Round 7 MVP: Elie Okobo, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne

elie okoboElie Okobo led LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne to a 70-84 road victory against Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, earning the Round 7 MVP honor in the process. Okobo set a new ASVEL club record with 35 points. The French powerhouse's previous scoring record in the competition belonged to Ali Traore, who had 29 points against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on October 28, 2009. Okobo buried 8-of-12 two-point shots, 5-of-7 three-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws, adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 5 fouls drawn for a PIR of 37. He stepped up when it mattered the most, too, scoring 25 points in the second half, and 17 in the final 5 minutes, including back-to-back triples to seal the outcome down the stretch. Walter Tavares of Real Madrid had the next best PIR, 28, in his team's road loss against UNICS Kazan. Tavares had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and a block. Luka Mitrovic of Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade recorded a PIR of 27 in a losing effort against AX Armani Exchange Milan, recording 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block and 7 fouls drawn. daryl maconHis sixth appearance in a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game was one to remember for Daryl Macon Jr., who positively shined in leading Panathinaikos OPAP Athens to a resounding 95-69 victory over the defending champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul, earning his first MVP of the Round honor in the process. Macon posted a PIR of 38, the highest of any player in Round 6 and tied for the season's best, after scoring 34 points on a club-record 9-for-12 three-point shooting. Those were the only 3 shots that Macon missed all night; he made both of his two-point attempts and 3 of 3 free throws, as well. He also collected 4 rebounds and 3 assists in fewer than 26 minutes on the floor. Round 6's second-best index rating, 29, belonged to Jan Vesely of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, who scored 24 points on 10-for-14 two-point shooting to go with 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in a last-second home loss against FC Barcelona Lassa. Next came Alpha Diallo of AS Monaco, whose 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists for a PIR of 28 helped beat visiting Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade by 70-62. The action keeps coming thick and fast with October’s second two-round week, which will provide 18 games as the two unbeaten leaders in the standings head on the road in their quest to stay perfect. After suffering a narrow defeat in the final seconds to Real Madrid last week, another major challenge is coming for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (2-3) with the visit of another in-form Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona (5-0) on Tuesday night. will clyburnForward Will Clyburn stepped up and led CSKA Moscow to a come-from-behind 88-82 win over visiting Olympiacos Piraeus on Friday to pick up the team's third MVP of the Round honor already this season. Clyburn scored 29 points, the second-highest total of his 145-game Turkish Airlines EuroLeague career and the most he ever scored in a regular-season game. Clyburn made 6 of 8 two-point shots, 3 of 8 threes and all 8 of his free throws. He also collected a team-high 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and drew 7 fouls for a performance index rating of 32, the highest among players on winning teams in Round 5. This is the third MVP of the Round honor in six EuroLeague seasons for Clyburn, whose injured teammate Tornike Shengelia earned a pair earlier in this one. The highest PIR of Round 5 came in the same game and belonged to Olympiacos guard Tyler Dorsey, who had a performance index rating of 34. Round 5 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season contains some high-powered matchups including repeats of two recent championship games. A famous rivalry will resume in Friday’s early tip-off between a pair of 3-1 teams currently tied for third place as CSKA Moscow welcomes Olympiacos Piraeus in a rematch of the 2012 championship game - plus 2013, 2015 and 2017 semifinals - all won by the Reds. brandon daviesAfter a game-saving play that helped keep his team undefeated, FC Barcelona center Brandon Davies waltzed to Round 4's MVP honor with a performance index rating of 38, the highest by any Turkish Airlines EuroLeague player so far this season. Davies matched career highs with 27 points and 6 offensive rebounds among his 10 total boards while dishing 4 assists on the night. He made 10 of 15 two-point shots, including the put-back of a teammate's miss with 2.7 seconds left in regulation that pushed the game to overtime, where Barca defeated host AS Monaco 81-85. After Davies came another center, Walter Tavares of Real Madrid, who didn't miss a shot while scoring 17 points to go with 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks for a 31 PIR in his team's 88-65 win over Panathinaikos OPAP Athens. Luke Sikma of ALBA Berlin followed with a 29 PIR based on 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in a 76-80 home loss to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. Will Thomas of Monaco came next, his 28 PIR coming with 15 points and 9 rebounds in the overtime loss to Barca. tornike shengeliaTornike Shengelia continued his hot start to the season by leading CSKA Moscow to a 77-67 Russian derby home win over Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday to earn his second consecutive MVP of the Round honor. Shegelia's performance index rating of 37 tied his career high after 187 EuroLeague games, and his 33 points and 10 two-pointers made were personal bests, too. He made 10 of his 16 two-point attempts, 2 of 4 three-pointers and 7 of 11 free throws while drawing 7 fouls and collecting 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. This is the sixth MVP of the Round honor of Shengelia's career. He's the first player to win back-to-back honors since Shane Larkin of Anadolu Efes Istanbul did it an unprecedented four times in a row in January of 2020. Mike James of AS Monaco followed with a PIR of 34 despite his team losing at Real Madrid, 94-86. James combined 24 points with 10 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Maodo Lo of ALBA Berlin was next with a PIR of 27 based on his 21 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals in an 84-70 home win over Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. Wrapping up the list of Round 3 top performers were two players from that same game, Fenerbahce guard Nando De Colo and ALBA forward Oscar Da Silva, each with PIRs of 26. October 12, 2021 - Round 3

Six teams are undefeated, six more are winless and six others hold 1-1 records ahead of Round 3, which will open the first double-round week of the season. The action starts with six games on Tuesday, tipping off in Kazan, Russia, and will wrap up with three games Wednesday, including a battle between FC Barcelona and Olympiacos Piraeus to stay undefeated. One team will get its first win of the season on Tuesday when UNICS Kazan hosts FC Bayern Munich. UNICS dropped to 0-2 on Friday when it lost in overtime to AS Monaco. tornike shengeliaOn the road against the reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions, CSKA Moscow forward Tornike Shengelia stepped up and led his team to a thrilling 96-100 win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, earning MVP of the Round honors. Shengelia accumulated a performance index rating of 29, the highest of all players in Round 2. He scored 23 points, his highest in a CSKA uniform, making 5-of-5 two-point shots, 2-of-3 triples and 7-of-8 free throws. He also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. This is fifth MVP of the Round honor of Shengelia's career, and his first with CSKA, which also had a player with the second best PIR of Round 2, with Johannes Voigtmann's 27. Voigtmann had an all-round game with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Elsewhere, Cory Higgins of FC Barcelona had a PIR of 25 in his team's road win at FC Bayern Munich, scoring 16 points along with 5 assists and 2 steals. Rounding out the list of this week's top performers are Jan Vesely of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Walter Tavares of Real Madrid. Round 2 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season is highlighted by a showdown between the competition’s two most recent champions, both of whom are looking to bounce back from defeat in last week’s openers. There's no doubt about the big game of Round 2, with the two most recent champions going head to head when 2019 winners CSKA Moscow travel to reigning champ Anadolu Efes Istanbul. It is also a key bounce-back game for both teams after they started the season with disappointing defeats.

scottie wilbekinA decisive performance in a narrow home victory has earned Scottie Wilbekin of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv the MVP honor for Round 1 of the new Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season! Wilbekin scored 13 of his team's 15 points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead free throws with 29 seconds left, as Maccabi outlasted FC Bayern Munich 69-68. He finished the game with 28 points, matching his career-high and outscoring any other Round 1 player, making 4 of 7 two-point shots, 4 of 6 threes and 8 of 8 free throws. With 3 assists, 3 steals and 6 fouls drawn, his performance index rating reached 32, the best among winning players in Round 1 and the second-best of his 141 EuroLeague career games. Shane Larkin of Anadolu Efes Istanbul had the week's highest PIR, 35, but despite his 21 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, the defending champs lost 82-69 at Real Madrid. September 28, 2021 - Round 1

The wait is over. The 2021-22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season is set to start with 18 teams fighting for the continental crown. To get there, the eventual champion must first survive the regular season – a round-robin, 34-game group stage. The best eight teams will advance to the EuroLeague Playoffs, where the battles will be even harder. Fans will be back in the stands, which makes everything better! The regular season begins earlier than ever with four games on Thursday, September 30, followed by five more on Friday, October 1. Welcome back, EuroLeague fans!
