James Guides Cleveland to a Crucial Win over the Warriors
June 9, 2015
LeBron James has often been compared with Michael Jordan
as one of the greatest players of basketball. Even though two of his
NBA championship medals have come in the last five years, James is seen
as someone who need not prove his worth in terms of titles. In
contrast, Jordan finished his career with six Championship medals.
LeBron is on the verge of adding more to his name after leading
Cleveland Cavaliers to move level with Golden State Warriors in the NBA
finals.
Golden State were leading the series after winning the first game, but
James has helped Cleveland tie the series with this victory. The
depleted roster of Cleveland looked unlikely to get past Golden State
Warriors. The 30-year-old was undoubtedly the star of the show after
doing much more than usual. There were poor performances from the likes
of Stephen Curry.
The 2014-15 MVP managed to shot 0-for-8 much to the
amazement of the crowd. GS had managed to limit Cleveland to shooting
just 32.2%. Yet, the fact that James returned with impressive numbers
of 39 points and 11 assists helped the home team to get back level in
the series.
It was a tough match for both teams and it was not surprising to see it
head into overtime yet again.
The next match of the series will be taking place at Quicken Loans
Arena. Lebron James has not played at this ground since 2007 when he
featured for Cleveland in a disappointing series loss against San
Antonio Spurs. After returning to Cleveland following a short spell
with Miami, James will be hoping to improve his legendary status by
potentially leading the club to titles.
Players like Michael Jordan used to carry their teams almost on their
own to titles. There is not in a similar expectation from Lebron James,
but the 30-year-old has already been proving his worth through
statistics alone.
After averaging a very healthy 41.5 points in the
first two matches, James will be hoping for a similarly impressive
record in the third game. He has also had an average of 8.5 assists and
12 rebounds in these two matches. It will be a great achievement if
James manages to give Cleveland a lead in the series. After all, the
team has been struggling without a number of key players like Kevin
Love and Kyrie Irving, who are injured at the moment.
Cleveland hope to win the title and they are not entirely dependent on
James. The team also have an unsung star in the form of Matthew
Dellavedova, who was mightily impressive in his efforts to stop Curry.
Even James came out in praise of Dellavedova after the match.
Betfair places Cleveland at even odds for a win in the third match of
the series, while Golden State are seen at 5/6 to take advantage of the
home match. Only time will tell if LeBron James can lead Cleveland to
the title and land himself a MVP award.
