The
odds are out, and it is no surprise that most free NBA picks are in
favor of the Miami Heat to pull a repeat of their title run.
What a year it was for Miami.
Expectations were at an all-time high as the Big Three entered their
second season together in South Beach. LeBron was criticized for his
performances in the the NBA Finals in that first year and every move he
made this season was scrutinized even more.
Well, the Heat came out and played well throughout the regular season,
going 46-20 and earning the second seed out of the Eastern Conference.
Come playoff time, they easily dispatched the New York Knicks in five,
then beat the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics in the following two
rounds. They were matched up with Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City
Thunder in the Finals and were up for the occasion, winning in five
games.
So now that LeBron has his first title, what's going to happen next? Is this the true start of a dynasty?
A very high possibility. The pressure is finally off (for the most
part) for LeBron and now he can just focus on playing the game he loves
as he tries to bring trophy after trophy back to South Beach.
Dwyane Wade, after battling through knee problems in the playoffs, is
set to have surgery during the offseason. It'll be great for Miami to
have a fully healthy D-Wade next season.
Same with Chris Bosh, who returned from a pretty lengthy spell on the
sidelines during the postseason to make a huge difference against the
Celtics and Thunder.
As for potential moves, the Heat's primary target is Ray Allen, who
would provide the team with deadly shooting ability. His
professionalism and work ethic would be a perfect fit over in Miami.
No matter what ends up happening in free agency, the Heat are going to
be title contenders as long as LeBron is in town. He's hands down the
best player in the game right now and we can't wait to see how he does
with the weight lifted off his shoulders.
