The games schedule of the 2012 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Round has been made public on Friday by Euroleague Basketball. The games will start on September 25 and the tourney will go on until a final team is left standing on September 28, to earn its berth in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague 2012-13 regular season. August 28, 2012 - Austria fade late against Croatia
Croatia stayed unbeaten in the EuroBasket Qualification Round on Monday with a hard-fought, 82-75 victory at Austria. Austria have been playing like a team on the rise in Europe, giving more celebrated opponents all they can handle. Polish champion Asseco Prokom Gdynia continued its roster building Monday by signing Australian center Julian Khazzouh to a three-year contract. Banvit BK and veteran power forward Kenan Bajramovic will be together for an additional season after the sides signed a new contract over the weekend. August 27, 2012 - Maccabi great and three-time European champ Burstein retires
Maccabi Tel Aviv great Tal Burstein announced his retirement from professional basketball at a press conference on Monday evening at Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv. Burstein, 32, took the decision to walk away from the game after learning that he would have to undergo surgery on his injured hip, which would have cost him the entire 2012-13 season. A stellar display by center Ksenia Tikhonenko lifted Russia past the Netherlands 73-55 and into their third successive U20 European Championship Women gold medal game. Ukrainian champion and Turkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful BC Donetsk signed one of the greatest shot-blockers in European history, D'or Fischer, over the weekend. Serbia kept up the pressure on neighbours Montenegro at the top of Group A in the EuroBasket 2013 Qualifiers as they eased to an 88-63 win over Estonia. Bojan Bogdanovic nailed a late three-pointer and Roko Leni Ukic was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief after Croatia edged out Ukraine 80-79 in overtime. Ukic missed two free throws with two seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime, but Bogdanovic bailed him out when he hit a three-pointer six seconds from the overtime buzzer to win it.
