February 29, 2012 - Eurocup Last 16, Week 6 MVP: Jeremiah Massey, Lokomotiv-Kuban
One of the biggest stars in the 2011-12 Eurocup earned weekly MVP honors for the second time this season. Jeremiah Massey of Lokomotiv-Kuban led his team to a go-ahead 73-70 home win against Alba Berlin with a 37 performance index ranking. Massey, who previously earned regular season Week 5 MVP honors, led Loko with 23 points on 4-of-7 shots from downtown.

February 29, 2012 - Maccabi, Blatt agree to multi-year extension
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv announced Tuesday that head coach David Blatt agreed to terms on a multi-year extension to remain at the helm of the club. The deal is for two more seasons after this one with an option for a third year. Blatt, 52, is in his second reign as Maccabi coach.

February 29, 2012 - Turkish Airkines Euroleague, Top 16, Week 6: it's crunch time!
The 2011-12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 - the last with a six-game round robin format - comes to an end this week with several decisive games all around the competition. Two teams - CSKA Moscow in Group E and FC Barcelona Regal in Group H - are already Top 16 group champions and earned the right to get the home court advantage in the upcoming Playoffs.

Gescrap BB will face its critical Top 16, Week 6 game at Unicaja without big man D’Or Fischer, who will miss several weeks with a calf injury on his right foot. Days after being eliminated from the playoffs race in a season for which it had Final Four hopes, Anadolu Efes decided to change course by bringing in a new head coach, Ilias Zouros, on Monday. Zouros will replace Ufuk Sarica, who had joined Efes at a similar juncture last season, but was unable to put the team into position to try to make the 2011 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Istanbul this May.

February 27, 2012 - Unicaja: Garbajosa out 4-6 weeks
Unicaja power forward Jorge Garbajosa is expected to be sidelined for at least 4 weeks due to a leg injury, the club announced Monday. Garbajosa got injured late in a Spanish League showdown against Eurocup powerhouse Valencia Basket and did not return to action. He has a calf muscle tear in his left leg, which will force him to be sidelined for 4 to 6 weeks.

February 27, 2012 - West wins 2012 All-Star game
In last night spectacle in Amway Center, Orlando, Florida, West Conference won 152:149. Kevin Durant scored 36 points, Kobe Bryant added 27, Blake Griffin 22 and Russell Westbrook 21. For East, Lebron James scored 36 points, Dwyane Wade added 24, Deron Williams 20 and Carmelo Anthony 19. Dwyane Wade had triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The upper half of the Italian League standings tightened after leader Montepaschi Siena lost to Acea Roma, but maintained sole possession of first place. Roma edged Siena 77-76 as the visitors’ Igor Rakocevic missed a potential game winner with the clock running out.

In fantastic atmosphere at front of 5.000 fans, Cibona Zagreb lost against Partizan mt:s after overtime. Final score 77:83 (13:18, 19:13, 20:23, 16:14, 9:15). I may say that we had an great opportunity to watch this great match, clash between Cibona Zagreb and Partizan mt:s Belgrade in ABA Adriatic league Game 19.

The tournament, to be played at TBC, will see four Serbian teams compete against four international teams. INSEP of France and Crvena Zvezda of Serbia both reached last years final round in Barcelona.

David Andersen was named Italian Final Eight MVP after scoring 23 points on excellent shooting to lead Montepaschi Siena to the Italian Cup title for the fourth straight year. Montepaschi bested fellow Turkish Airlines Euroleague side Bennet Cantu 88-71 in the title game Sunday in Torino.

February 20, 2012 - Israeli League, Regular Season, Game 17
The Israeli League super classic lived up to expectations on Sunday night as defending champion Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv fended off Hapoel Jerusalem 100-104 after overtime in the Israeli capital. In a game that was close throughout, Ramel Bradley was fouled attempting a three-pointer at the end of regulation and made the resulting 3 free throws to knot the score at 90-90 and force overtime.

February 19, 2012 - Partizan mt:s won Radivoj Korac Cup
Partizan mt:s topped Crvena Zvezda Diva 64:51 and won Radivoj Korac Cup in fantastic atmosphere in Cair Arena in City of Nis tonight. Honestly, I expected much more from this game. Of course, it is impossible to expect to watch some attractive game in final, but I am quite disappointed.

February 19, 2012 - Partizan mt:s and Crvena Zvezda Diva in Radivoj Korac Cup final
Much much easier than expected, Partizan mt:s qualified to Radivoj Korac Cup final after they topped Radnicki Kragujevac in first Semifinal game, with 96:75. Radnicki finished first half with +1, but that was all from Radnicki in this game. At the beginning of the second half, Partizan mt:s started much better with better engagement.

February 19, 2012 - Italian Cup semifinals
A rematch is set for the Italian Cup title after defending champion Montepaschi Siena and challenger Bennet Cantu survived semifinals Saturday with narrow victories in Torino. Siena will aim for its fourth cup title - all consecutively so far - after outlasting fellow-Turkish Airlines Euroleague power EA7 Emporio Armani Milan by 67-65 in their semifinal.

BJK Besiktas Milangaz stormed back from a halftime deficit to seize its second Turkish Cup title on Saturday with a 74-78 victory in the final against BK Banvit in Konya, Turkey. The victory marked 25 years since Besiktas lifted the Turkish Cup for the first time, in 1987.

Zalgiris Kaunas coasted to its second consecutive Lithuanian Cup title and fourth in six seasons by blowing away Pasvalio Pieno Zvaigzdes by 99-62 on Saturday. F.C. Barcelona Regal will try for its third straight Spanish King's Cup at home on Sunday against arch-rival Real Madrid as both Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams dominated late in their semifinals on Saturday. Barcelona and Madrid enter Sunday's final tied with 22 titles each in the 75-year history of the cup.

February 18, 2012 - Serbian Radivoja Koraca Cup quarterfinals, Day 2
Crvena Zvezda and Hemofarm Stada won Friday to join Partizan mt:s and Radnicki in the Serbian Radivoja Koraca Cup semifinals. Crvena Zvezda topped BKK Radnicki 88-74 and Hemofarm Stada slammed Radnicki FMP 84-58. Zvezda will play Hemofarm in one of Saturday’s semifinals and Partizan will face Radnicki in the other.

The first two quarterfinals of the Radivoja Koraca Cup featured much different games and in the end Partizan mt:s and Radnicki celebrated wins. Partizan smacked down Mega Vizura 98-69 as Miroslav Raduljica scored 16 points, while Radnicki held on to edge Vojvodina Srbijagas 77-75. Partizan held a 40-34 halftime lead, but pulled away in the second half for the comfortable victory.

Turkish Airlines Euroleague sides Montepaschi Siena and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan punched their tickets to the Italian Cup semifinals with respective wins Thursday in Torino. Montepaschi bested Banco di Sardegna Sassari 70-60, while Milan ousted Canadian Solar Bologna 82-77.

Cedevita lifted the Kresimir Cosic Cup for the first time in club history by edging KK Zagreb in the final 74-72. Matjaz Smodis was named tournament MVP after scored 10 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter for the winners. Zagreb led 57-53 through three quarters, but the Ants outscored Zagreb 10-0 in the first four-and-a-half minutes of the fourth quarter to take the lead for good.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv routed Maccabi Rishon 82-69 to lift the Israeli Cup for the third season in a row and the 39th time in club history. Keith Langford scored 12 first quarter points to stake Maccabi to a double-digit lead and the yellow-and-blue coasted the rest of the way.

Montepaschi Siena point guard Bo McCalebb has once again dismmissed rumours of a move to the NBA, deciding to stay in Europe. In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, the American-born Macedonian international said he was enjoying his basketball and doesn't feel the need to change.

Giorgos Printezis netted 14 points and paced Olympiacos to an important 64-78 victory over Kolossos Rhodes on the road as the Reds improved their record to 17-1 to remain atop the Greek League standings. Meanwhile Panathinaikos overwhelmed Kavala 93-71 behind 16 points and 5 assists from Sarunas Jasikevicius and remains second at 15-2.

Galatasaray Medical Park rolled to the semifinals of the Turkish Cup on Wednesday by crushing Antalya Bsb 94-57 in the quarterfinals in Konya. Galatasaray will meet Besiktas in one semifinal on Friday.

February 15, 2012 - Turkish Cup Quarterfinals, Day 1
Banvit BK became the first team to reach the Turkish Cup semifinals by topping Tofas 81-78 in the first quarterfinal. Lance Williams led the winners with 19 points. Serkan Erdogan added 12 for Banvit. Jurica Zuza had 24 points for Tofas while Brad Buckman added 23.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and Maccabi Rishon Lezion will meet for the Israeli Cup on Thursday after each won respective semifinals at Nokia Arena on Monday. Tel Aviv routed Hapoel Holon 91-70 behind 20 points each from Devin Smith and Lior Eliyahu to reach the final for the 44th time.

Dirk Nowitzki is the European Player of the Year 2011, FIBA Europe have announced. Dallas Mavericks and Germany forward, Nowitzki came in 4th in the fans voting, but was aided by the experts voting to surpass Eurobasket 2011 MVP, Juan Carlos Navarro.

There were no changes at the top of the Spanish League as both FC Barcelona Regal and Real Madrid notched impressive victories. Barcelona easily beat FIATC Mutua Joventut on the road 52-79, taking an 11-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and adding to it through the remainder of the game.

Chalon-sur-Saone stopped Orleans’ six-game winning streak in convincing fashion, winning 94-62 to take a 15-3 record and regain a tie for first place atop the French League table with Gravelines, which lost 85-83 to Le Mans in an overtime thriller. Chalon-sur-Saone grabbed a 29-16 margin against Orleans at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Host Zalgiris is the champion of Kaunas International Junior Tournament and will be headed to the Nike International Junior Tournament finals during Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four weekend in Istanbul this May. Zalgiris dominated BC Khimki Moscow Region 107-60 in Sunday’s title game as Justas Tamulis scored 21 points.

February 11, 2012 - Paul lifts Clippers over Sixers 78-77
With some help from Blake Griffin, Chris Paul came up huge when the Los Angeles Clippers needed it most. Paul had 24 points, including the game-winning 17-footer with 3.2 seconds left, Griffin added 16 points and 11 rebounds and the Clippers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 78-77 on Friday.

Last night in Belgrade, Partizan mt:s hosted Siroki in Game 20 of ABA Adriatic league. Black and whites won with final result 86:59 (20:21, 12:15, 27:9, 27:14). For those who were not able to watch this game, final score could looks like that it was an easy game for Black and whites but actually it wasn’t.

February 10, 2012 - Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16, Week 4 bwin MVP: Aaron Jackson, Gescrap BB
In a week full of surprises, Aaron Jackson of Gescrap BB was at the center of one of the biggest. Just one week after his team was battered by 16 points in a loss at Real Madrid, the men in black turned the tables en route to a 93-69 victory.

February 10, 2012 - Kaunas NIJT event tips off Friday
The third Nike International Junior Classification Tournament of the season gets underway this weekend in Kaunas, Lithuania, with eight teams from as many countries vying for the title. This marks the first season for Kaunas on the NIJT slate and it does so with a showcase of young talent, including host Zalgiris Kaunas, which reached the title game of the NIJT Finals at the 2011 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Barcelona.

With his team facing a must-win game to remain in the fight for the Eurocup Quarterfinals, Hilton Armstrong rose to the occasion with one of his biggest games yet to lead Asvel Basket to a huge win over Aris BSA 2003. And when the dust settled, Armstrong’s 18-point, 8-rebound effort was also enough to give him the title of Eurocup Last 16, Game 4 MVP.

February 7, 2012 - Bennet Cantu parts ways with Gianella
Following the signing of Doron Perkins, Bennet Cantu has come to terms with reserve point guard Nico Gianella to terminate his contract. Gianella joined the club during the start of the season and produced 4.4 points and 1 assist over five Turkish Airlines Euroleague games for Cantu.

February 6, 2012 - Asvel Basket adds Charitopoulos
Asvel Basket fortified its frontcourt with the signing of power forward Dimitrios Charitopoulos for the remainder of the season. Charitopoulos (2.05 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Marrousi in his native Greece, where averaged 12.1 points and 7.6 blocks in 14 Greek League games this season.

February 6, 2012 - Eurocup Last 16, Week 4: the time is now!
The 2011-12 Eurocup Last 16 gets to pivotal Week 4, in which as many as four teams - Valencia Basket, BC Khimki, Spartak St. Petersburg and Banvit BK - can book respective tickets to the Quarterfinals. Those teams that played on the road last week hosts their opponents in what promises to be an interesting rematch.

February 6, 2012 - Becirovic to soothe Iran's Asian hangover.
Ex-Slovenia coach Memi Becirovic has become the new head coach of the Iran national team. Becirovic, who guided Slovenia to the quarter-finals of the 2010 world championships in Turkey, takes over from Veselin Matic, who parted ways with Iran shortly after the Asiabasket tournament, after they were knocked out in the last eight by Jordan.

February 6, 2012 - Convincing win for black and whites
Partizan mt:s beat Zlatorog in "Pionir" and enrolled another win in Adriatic league with the score 90:50 (23:16, 23:12, 24:12, 20:10). In opening minutes Raduljica was great in the paint, and also was Strnada who scored from distance for 5:5. Milosavljevic and Macvan joined Raduljica in attack and black and whites stepped in to the lead 11:7.

February 6, 2012 - Greek League, Regular Season, Game 17
With Giorgos Printezis once again on fire and netting 20 points, Olympiacos thrashed Peristeri 55-87 on the road to improve its record to 15-1 and remain atop the Greek League standings. Meanwhile Panathinaikos enjoyed a week 17 bye before the two teams meet each other next Sunday in Piraeus.

February 6, 2012 - French League, Regular Season, Game 17
BCM Gravelines stayed atop the French League table with a 15-2 record after it took out Nanterre at home 69-61. Nanterre made the hosts work, taking a 47-52 lead at the end of the third quarter, but the hosts took off on a 12-2 early run in the fourth to take over the game.

There were big wins for three of the top teams in the Adriatic League over the weekend, while Cibona stopped Buducnost in another key clash. First-placed Maccabi Electra routed Union Olimpija 63-83 on the road Saturday night as David Blu scored 17 and Richard Hendrix posted 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The postponement of the clash between Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Eurocup contenders Galatasaray Medical Park and Banvit BK was postponed till next month, which opened the door for league leader Anadolu Efes to extend the gap over second place to two wins after claiming a victory on the road.

The Minnesota Timberwolves almost never won away from home last season. Now, they don’t seem eager to go back there. Luke Ridnour made the tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:23 left, Nikola Pekovic scored a career-high 27 points, and the Timberwolves beat the New Jersey Nets 108-105 on Friday night to surpass last season’s road victory total.

February 4, 2012 - Efes loses Kuqo to injury
On the heels of a loaning one veteran away this week, Anadolu Efes Istanbul announced Friday that it had lost another to a long-term injury. On Friday, a day after loaning point guard Vlado Ilievski to Eurocup contender Lokomotiv Kuban of Russia, Efes announced that center Ermal Kuqo would be out two months after undergoing surgery for an unspecified injury.

February 3, 2012 - Steven Smith two weeks out
Steven Smith of Panathinaikos underwent an MRI scan on Friday that showed a muscular tear in his left leg and will be sidelined for about two weeks. Smith was injured seven minutes into the game against Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

Two cities and three franchises accounted for six of the 10 players voted starters for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, announced Thursday. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James of the Miami Heat were voted Eastern Conference starters for the Feb. 26 game at Amway Center in Orlando.
