May 31, 2010 - Eurobasket 2011 dates announced
Eurobasket 2011, which will be hosted by Lithuania, will take place through September 3-18. The city in which the home team will play its group stage games will be announced in Septmeber 2010. Host cities will be Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevezys, Siauliai and Vilnius. Group stage games will be played in Alytus, Klaipeda, Panevezys and Siauliai.

May 31, 2010 - Jasikevicius will skip World Championship in Turkey
Kestutis Kemzura is going to face the problem that the previous coaches of Lithuania NT faced in the past. Sarunas Jasikevicius decided not to represent his country later this year in Turkey at FIBA World Championship. Saras has also skipped Eurobasket 2009 in Poland.

May 31, 2010 - FIBA Europe Board Expands EuroBasket Field
Basketball in Europe continued its upward growth on Sunday as the Board of FIBA Europe decided to expand the number of participating teams for EuroBasket 2013 from 16 to 24.  The change means the elimination of the Division A and B concept.

May 31, 2010 - POWER ELECTRONICS inks coach Hussein
Power Electronics named Manuel Hussein as its new head coach. Hussein, 47, agreed to a two-year deal with the reigning Eurocup champion. He replaced Neven Spahija, who resigned last week. Hussein, who did not coach last season, was last at the helm of CB Murcia for four consecutive seasons from 2005-09. He led Murcia to the Spanish second division cup and promotion to the Spanish elite in 2006.

May 30, 2010 - Drazen Anzulovic to coach Lietuvos Rytas next season
Lietuvos Rytas have already found a replacement for Rimas Kurtinaitis. According to both Croatian and Lithuanian media, Drazen Anzulovic is set to become a successor of Kurtinaitis. 43-year-old Croatian coach is currently unemployed after his last club, BC Donetsk, has been disbanded.

May 30, 2010 - Great Britain would like to host Eurobasket 2015
Basketball is not going to be forgotten in Great Britain after 2012 Olympic Games in London. A new program named 'T16' has already been created. It focuses towards 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, hence the name of the program. Both men and women national teams are expected to qualify for 2016 Olympics. T16 also includes plans to develop new talent in Great Britain but that's not all.

May 30, 2010 - Greece to face USA in an exhibition game
Greece became yet another powerhouse to face United States in a friendly game ahead of World Championship in Turkey. Contra.gr reports that the game will be played on August 25 in OAKA which is home to Panathinaikos. Tickets will go on sale on Monday. The prices are 20, 50 and 100 euros.

May 30, 2010 - Saras coming back to Maccabi for two years
Lithuanian star Sarunas Jasikevicius is likely to finish his career in Tel Aviv. Israeli newspaper 'Maariv' suggests that the 34-year-old veteran point guard is finalising the details of a two-year contract with the Yellows. Saras's current contract with Panathinaikos runs out this summer.

May 30, 2010 - World Championship Round-Up 5
With 90 days until the ‘Giant Get Together’ in Turkey. Coaches are naming their preliminary squads in consideration for the World Championships, which starts on August 28th. Brazil have named two different squads in the run-in to Turkey, with 24 players being listed - the first group will meet on June 1st to prepare for the South American Championship.

May 29, 2010 - Polish League Finals, Game 4: May 29, 2010
Asseco Prokom Gdynia edged Anwil Wloclawek 79-80 on Saturday to sweep the best-of-seven Polish League finals and win the league crown for the seventh year in a row. Qyntel Woods posted 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead Prokom, while David Logan added 16 and was named finals MVP and Adam Lapeta tallied 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

May 28, 2010 - Spanish League playoffs, Semifinals, Game 1: May 27-28, 2010
Euroleague champion Regal FC Barcelona was tested at home in the opening game of the Spanish League semifinals on Thursday before pulling away to an entertaining 96-82 victory over visiting Unicaja. The all-Euroleague match-up in the best-of-five semis saw visiting Unicaja score 48 points to lead at halftime, but Juan Carlos Navarro's 3 three-pointers in succession early in the second half boosted Barcelona to a lead it did not relinquish thereafter.

May 27, 2010 - The future of Rimas Kurtinaitis at Lietuvos Rytas is uncertain
Even though Rimas Kurtinaitis publicly declared his desire to stay in Vilnius for one more year, Lietuvos Rytas are weighing all possibilities before making a final decision. Jonas Vainauskas, GM of Rytas, said that he isn't totally sure whether Kurtinaitis has what it takes in order to achieve the goals that the club has set for the next season.

May 27, 2010 - Spanoulis to NBA, if not then it's Real Madrid
Vassilis Spanoulis might not be staying in Panathinaikos next season. According to various reports, the Greek guard's priority is to go back to the NBA next season. In case that plan doesn't go the way he hopes, Spanoulis has another option which is to move to Spain to join Real Madrid.

May 27, 2010 - Russian League playoffs, Semifinals, Game 2: May 24, 2010
CSKA Moscow and BC Khimki Moscow Region remain on a collision course in the Russian League after improving to 2-0 in the best-of-five semifinals on Monday. CSKA routed Dynamo Moscow 85-60 as Ramunas Siskauskas scored 17 and Viktor Khryapa stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

May 27, 2010 - Greek League finals, Game 1: May 26, 2010
Panathinaikos opened the Greek League finals in style by routing archrival Olympiacos 73-54 at OAKA. The Greens now have a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series that moves to Piraeus on Sunday. The defending champion used a 17-4 streak to break open a close game and take a 36-22 lead, from which it never looked back.

May 25, 2010 - Cajasol says goodbye to the season
Cajasol Seville lost the definitive third game against Real Madrid (67-60) to reach quarter-finals round in the ACB league from Spain. In another great game on defense by Cajasol, controlling the pace of the game to get low scores, only Garbajosa and the offensive rebound of Real made very difficult for the sevillian team to get their target.

May 24, 2010 - Lietuvos Rytas retain LKL title
Lietuvos Rytas won its second straight LKL title after defeating Zalgiris 80-71 in Game 7 of LKL Finals in a packed Siemens Arena. It was the first time in club's history that Rytas won two consecutive LKL titles.

May 24, 2010 - Neven Spahija resigns from Valencia!
In a surprise announcement on Monday, head coach Neven Spahija resigned from Power Electronics Valencia, the Eurocup champions, while indicating that he might yet coach in the Euroleague next season. On April 18, Spahija led Valencia to the Eurocup title and an automatic spot in the Euroleague by defeating Alba Berlin 44-67 in the competition's title game. Over this weekend, Valencia was knocked out of the Spanish League playoffs by Unicaja in the quarterfinals.

May 24, 2010 - Brad Newley close to joining Rytas
Lithuanian champions Lietuvos Rytas will play game seven of LKL finals tomorrow against Zalgiris but the club is already planning for next season. According to superbasket.gr, Australian guard-forward Brad Newley is already in talks with Rytas. 25-year-old sharp shooter spent the season in Turkey with Besiktas.

May 22, 2010 - Cajasol beats Real Madrid on the road
Cajasol Seville beat Real Madrid (60-66), in the first game of playoff's quarterfinals in the ACB league. A spectacular game by Dusko Savanovic and, as always, Tariq Kirksay. In a low-scoring game, the Sevillian team managed to get advantage of their great defence against the best scoring team in the league.

May 20, 2010 - World Championship Round-Up 4
France and San Antonio Spurs guard, Tony Parker has decided not to represent his country in Turkey this year, due to fatigue - as he joins Argentina’s Manu Ginobili, Australia’s Andrew Bogut and possibly USA star, LeBron James on the list of NBA players that won’t feature at the ‘Giant Get Together,’ beginning in August.

May 19, 2010 - Real Madrid Is Preparing A Big Summer
Real Madrid is desperate to beat their rivals FC Barcelona next season and as a result the club is preparing to make a big splash in the free agent market. Florentino Perez is prepared to spend a lot on the club's basketball section this summer and has given head coach Ettore Messina the go ahead to pursue the players he wants.

May 19, 2010 - London Capital withdraw from the BBL
The BBL has today announced the withdrawal of the PAWS London Capital Franchise. The decision follows a season-long review process which evaluated the performance of the franchise both on and off the playing court. In a related move, following their relegation from BBL, Capital have taken a position in EBL Division One.

May 18, 2010 - NBA Europe Live game presented in Milan
The city hall in Milan, Italy was the scene on Tuesday of a press conference presenting the NBA Europe Live game slated for that city next fall between local team Armani Jeans Milano and New York of the NBA. Among the guests at the press conference, which also served to announce the opening of ticket sales for the event, was Euroleague Basketball CEO Jordi Bertomeu.

May 17, 2010 - Two-time Bulgarian champion Willie Deane granted Bulgarian passport
Sofia, Bulgaria -- Lukoil Academic Point Guard Willie Deane, two-time Bulgarian Champion and two-time Russian League Scoring Champion in 2006 & 2007 is now acitizen of Bulgaria and days ago received and was granted a Bulgarian Passport. The Player,who in the past two seasons, played and won the National Championship for Lukoil Akademik Sofia, averages nearly 18 points and more than 4 assists a game in his overall career.

May 17, 2010 - 2010 ON COURT CLINIC: BARCELONA PROGRAM
The Final Session will be held in Barcelona from June 23rd-26th, 2010.
Each Coach will perform 4 lectures, covering a total of 12 topics on the court and they will also participate in a round table with all of you in the hotel during the first day.


May 14, 2010 - Azovmash banned from international club tournaments
Ukrainian club Azovmash Mariupol has been sanctioned by FIBA for breaching all of its obligations to honour the final award of the FIBA Appeals Tribunal. FIBA has previously imposed a ban on Azovmash to sign new players. However, the club continues breaching the ban. Therefore FIBA took further actions by banning Azovmash from all international club tournaments.

May 14, 2010 - Final Four attracts record TV audiences!
A Final Four that started with the Euroleague setting new marks for its broadcast reach has ended by attracting record live television audiences, as well. More than a million viewers tuned into Sunday's title game, won by Regal FC Barcelona over Olympiacos Pireaus, in each of the finalists respective home countries, Spain and Greece. Those live audiences do not include delayed showings, re-runs or special news programs based on the event, and therefore represent just a fraction of the worldwide viewers in a record 197 countries where the Final Four was broadcast.

May 12, 2010 - AJ Milano sign Chris Monroe for the rest of the season
AJ Milano have officially announced the signing of a 29-year-old guard Chris Monroe. The player will undergo a medical testing today and is expected to join the team tomorrow. Monroe signed the contract with the Italian club till the end of the season.

May 12, 2010 - Minnesota Timberwolves in talks with Pekovic
Minnesota Timberwolves are looking at the possibility of bringing Nikola Pekovic to the NBA next season. The center of Panathinaikos was drafted 31st overall in 2008 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves. After two years in Greece and one Euroleague title, 24-year-old Montenegrin is considering the option of playing on the other side of the Atlantic.

May 12, 2010 - Real Madrid showing interest in Milos Teodosic
Olympiacos point guard Milos Teodosic is attracting the interest of Real Madrid, gazzetta.gr reports. 23-year-old Serbian international is having the best season in his career so far. Teodosic was named Euroleague's MVP for 2009/2010 season.

May 11, 2010 - Maskoliunas officially fired
Yesterday's report that Darius Maskoliunas will be fired came true today. According to the clubs' website the coach was forced to leave the team because he violated the contract. More specifically, the part which is called 'an intentional negative influence towards the outcome of the game'.

May 11, 2010 - Lithuania's summer schedule is set
Lithuanian national team will play ten friendly games this summer as a preparation for FIBA World Championship 2010 in Turkey. The biggest highlight will be the games against reigning World Champions Spain and Olympic Champions United States.

May 11, 2010 - Anderson wanted by Real Madrid
Alan Anderson of Maccabi Tel Aviv could be on his way to Spain, sport5.co.il reports. The American forward arrived to Israel from Cibona last summer. He could switch teams this summer again after Real Madrid showed interest in the player.

May 11, 2010 - Zoran Planinic, yet another target of Maccabi
Maccabi Tel Aviv are actively looking for potential additions to the team for the next season. The latest report by sport5.co.il suggests that The Yellows are already holding informal negotiationa with the Croatian guard Zoran Planinic. The two year contract of a 28-year-old CSKA Moscow player expires this summer.

May 10, 2010 - Juan Carlos Navarro, 2010 Final Four MVP
His trophy collection continues. After the team he leads made the Euroleague title game look easy, Regal FC Barcelona guard Juan Carlos Navarro was voted MVP of the 2010 Final Four by the 491 media members in attendance among 14,000 fans in jam-packed Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on Sunday in the French capital.

May 10, 2010 - Once Again Luck Denies The Black&White Guys!
BC Partizan and CSKA Moscow clashed for the first time in this season in the third-place game, and this game was the opportunity for the fans of both teams to prove their brotherhood relations. Brotherhood yet was far off the court as CSKA won the game after a real battle that brought another loss to the black and whites after overtime 90:88.

May 10, 2010 - Barca win Euroleague in style
Regal FC Barcelona comfortably despatched of Greek side Olympiacos, 86-68 to become 2009/2010 Euroleague Champions in Paris, France. Juan Carlos Navarro was named Final Four MVP - as the danger-man hit 21 points, to lead all scorers for the winners. As they lead from midway through the first quarter and never looked back.

May 10, 2010 - CSKA leave Paris with pride
CSKA Moscow left Paris with some pride in tack, as they needed overtime to see off Partizan in a thrilling 3rd/4th place game in Paris. Veteran, J.R. Holden hit a game-winning triple with 2.9 seconds left in overtime to grab victory for the Russians. Partizan’s Bo McCalebb had a chance to win it for his side, but was short with his three-pointer.

May 9, 2010 - Barcelona reigns in Paris!!!
No doubt about it! On Sunday night in Paris, Regal FC Barcelona outgunned Olympiacos 86-68 for its second Euroleague title practically without missing a beat all game. Juan Carlos Navarro led the winners with 21 points and Pete Mickeal followed with 14. Linas Kleiza had 13 for the Reds, whose last lead was at 5-6.

May 9, 2010 - Siskauskas confirms he won't play for Lithuania again
Even though Kestuti Kemzura decided to include Ramunas Siskauskas to the list of the players that will be invited to play for Lithuania in FIBA World Championship 2010, the player made it clear that he is not coming back. Siska responded with a phrase 'definitely not' when asked by lrytas.lt whether he'll be returning to the national team.

May 9, 2010 - CSKA finishes third!
CSKA Moscow finished the 2010 Euroleague Basketball season in third place after holding off Partizan Belgrade 90-88 in a memorable overtime thriller on Sunday at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in the French capital. CSKA was led by its old guard as Trajan Langdon produced a record scoring night and J.R. Holden sank a game-winning three-pointer with 2.4 seconds left in overtime to secure a tough win.

May 9, 2010 - NIKE International Junior Tournament - INSEP wins 73-83
INSEP is the 2010 Nike International Junior Tournament champion! INSEP lifted the trophy by downing dethroned champion FMP 73-83. Hugo Ivernizzi paced the winners with 16 points. Ulysse Adjagba and Livio Jean-Charles each added 15 while William Howard had 10 for INSEP. Nenad Miljenovic led FMP with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

May 9, 2010 - Olympiacos full of praise to young Partizan squad
Olympiacos head coach, Panagiotis Giannakis was full of praise for his side’s patience and passion after their ovetime success over Partizan on Friday night. The Greeks beat their Serbian opposition, 83-80 in a thrilling Final Four encounter in Paris, to ensure they would meet Regal FC Barcelona in Sunday’s final and relegate Partizan to a 3rd/4th place game against CSKA Moscow.

Mindaugas Katelynas could be on his way back home next season. According to Krepsinis.net, Lithuanian forward has an offer from Zalgiris. Katelynas currently loaned out by AJ Milano and plays in Spanish ACB league with Meridiano Alicante.

In the second semi final game of the Euroleague Final Four in Paris, Olympiacos and Partizan played one of the most exciting matches in the history of this competition. Packed Bercy Arena could see the breakthrough of Barcelona to the final after beating CSKA in a very tough game, while Olympiacos edged Partizan after overtime 80:83 in an unbelievable basketball thriller.

May 8, 2010 - Olympiacos edge Partizan in thriller
Olympiacos put in the extra working minutes to beat a hard-nosed Partizan side, 83-80 after an overtime period in the Euroleague Final Four Semi Final in Paris. Former Atlanta Hawk, Josh Childress and Serbian, Milos Teodosic paced the Greek giants, Olympiacos with 17 points between them. While Bo McCallebb scored an impressive 21 points, but to no effect for Partizan.

May 7, 2010 - Olympiacos second finalist!!!
The Euroleague final will be painted red after Olympiacos survived Partizan 80-83 in OT of a stone thriller in Friday's second semifinal. Josh Childress saved the Reds with a put-back to force overtime. Linas Kleiza scored 19. It's Olympiacos against Regal FC Barcelona in Sunday's title game.

May 7, 2010 - Regal FC Barcelona first finalist!!!
Regal FC Barcelona is a close stepper to its ultimate dream after topping CSKA Moscow 64-54 on Friday evening in the first semifinal of the 2010 Euroleague Basketball Final Four at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in the French capital. Barcelona avenged defeat against the same CSKA team from last season’s semifinals thanks to a strong showing from star playmaker Ricky Rubio, who scored 10 points and tied a Final Four record with 8 assists.

May 7, 2010 - Partizan not here to make the numbers
Partizan are rank outsiders going into the Final Four later today, but center, Aleks Maric is coming to Paris to win - not just to make up the numbers in their encounter with Olympiacos. Partizan are appearing in their first Final Four since 1998 and have no doubt, got the youngest squad in this season’s Euroleague, but Maric know his team have to stay focused to win.

May 7, 2010 - Barca ready for CSKA
Regal FC Barcelona’s Juan Carlos Navarro and Erazem Lorbek are confident and ready ahead of their Final Four encounter with Final Four regulars, CSKA Moscow later today. Barcelona and CSKA have appeared in more Final Four’s than any other European clubs. For the Catalans, this will be their 11th appearance, while CSKA will be making their 10th visit to European Basketball’s big dance.

May 6, 2010 - Marcus Haislip targetted by AJ Milano
After a rather disappointing season in Euroleague Armani Jeans Milano are looking to add some new players for next season. The club finished 5th in Group D and missed Top 16. One of the main targets of AJ Milano is thought to be Marcus Haislip who had a short stint with Panathinaikos before being later released.

May 4, 2010 - Official candidates list for Lithuania national team
Kestutis Kemzura, head coach of Lithuania, named 24 players as the candidates for the national team which will play in FIBA World Championship 2010 in Turkey and 11 players for the reserve team. The official list is different compared to the previously published unofficial one. The biggest surprise is the inclusion of Ramunas Siskauskas who announced his international retirement back in 2008 and hasn't worn the green jersey since then.

May 4, 2010 - Euroleague, MONDO, French Federation to help hospital
Euroleague Basketball has partnered with official sponsor MONDO and the French Basketball Federation during this week's Final Four to refurbish the basketball court at world-renowned Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in the French capital.

May 3, 2010 - 2010 PARIS NIJT TOURNAMENT
The stars of tomorrow will get the balls bouncing at the Euroleague Final Four in Paris as eight of the world's finest under-18 squads square off in the annual Nike International Junior Tournament starting on Thursday, May 6. Defending champion FMP of Serbia is one of four winners of this season's alsoNIJT qualifying events, having taken first place in Belgrade in February.
