to wrap up Round 5 of the Adriatic League. Vlado Ilievski scored 18 and

October 31, 2010 - Barcelona's Basile out 3 more months
Defending
champions Regal FC Barcelona will miss the Euroleague's all-time
three-point shooting leader for even longer than expected after
learning Saturday that Gianluca Basile's injured left foot requires
surgery that will sideline the veteran guard for three more months.
Basile (192, 35) has not played yet this season.
October 30, 2010 - Stern plans to bring NBA to Europe
According
to NBA commissioner David Stern NBA plans to expand to Europe in the
next ten years. In a public speech in Miami Stern when asked about NBA
in Europe said: "It's a wonderful topic, because 10 years ago, I said,
'Oh, it's inevitable, it'll happen in 10 years. And now what I'm saying
is, 'It's inevitable, it'll happen in 10 years.'
October 29, 2010 - CSKA loses Siskauskas, too
More
than it's first two games, CSKA Moscow lost a big part of its recent
succeses on Friday when small forward Ramunas Siskauskas joined the
injured list with back injury that will sideline him at least one
month. The 32-year-old former Euroleague MVP left the floor on Thursday
after 5 minutes of the Game of the Week, which CSKA lost 74-60 on the
road at Panathinaikos.
October 29, 2010 - Besiktas brings in former NBA star Iverson

Cola Turka has made the latest and biggest-ever splash in the Eurocup
player market by signing legendary guard Allen Iverson to a one-year
contract. Iverson (185, 35) is a former two-time MVP of the NBA and is
considered among the best players his size ever in basketball.

Panathinaikos
knocked off its main rival in Group D by beating CSKA Moscow 74-60 at
the Athens Olympic Indoor Hall (OAKA) in the Greek capital on Thursday
night. The Greek champs improved to 2-0 before visiting Union Olimpija
in Week 3. Drew Nicholas paced the Greens with 18 points and Romain
Sato added 17.

Fenerbahce
Ulker held off a late Cibona Zagreb charge to record a valuable 68-73
road win at the Drazen Petrovic Basketball Center in the Croatian
capital on Thursday evening. Tarence Kinsey scored 17 points and
Croatian national team star Roko Ukic netted 14 for the winners, who
improved to 2-0 in Turkish Airlines Euroleague Group C, but visit
Euroleague champion Regal FC Barcelona next week.
October 29, 2010 - Union Olimpija overcame Armani Jeans 72-76
Union
Olimpija jumped to a 2-0 start in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague
season on Thursday night when it defeated Armani Jeans Milano 72-76 at
the Mediolanum Forum and joined Panathinaikos for first place in Group
D. Goran Jagodnik and Saso Ozbolt scored 19 points apiece for the
visitors, who relied heavily on their outside shooting touch, going 14
of 29 from beyond the arc.
October 28, 2010 - Brose Baskets surprised Olympiacos 73-61
The
Turkish Airlines Euroleague season had one of its biggest upsets yet as
Brose Baskets downed visiting Olympiacos Piraeus by 73-61 on Wednesday
in Bamberg, Germany. Both teams now have 1-1 records in Group B. Brose
withstood a 0-10 takeover run by Olympiacos right after halftime to
come back and win going away thanks to its own 16-4 run bridging the
final two quarters.
October 28, 2010 - Partizan mt:s defeated BC Khimki 72-68
Partizan
mt:s found its first win in Turkish Airlines Euroleague Group A by
edging BC Khimki Moscow Region 72-68 in front of an outstanding
basketball atmosphere at a sellout Pionir Arena in Belgrade, Serbia on
Wednesday. Both teams are now tied in Group A, each with a 1-1 record.
Nathan Jawai led the winners with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Jasikevicius had been doing individual training session to keep in
shape but as of tomorrow he will join Peristeri trainings, in Athens.
Peristeri is a well known Greek A1 team and Jasikevicius decided to
join their training sessions.

Basket Charleroi added a major presence to its frontcourt Tuesday with
the signing of Daniel Santiago. The veteran center will mark his sixth
consecutive season in the Euroleague this season. Santiago (217, 34)
averaged 5.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 Euroleague games for Efes
Pilsen last season.
October 26, 2010 - Partizan adds big man Gist

champion Partizan mt:s Belgrade moved to reenforce its frontcourt by
signing power forward James Gist to a one-year deal on Tuesday. Gist
(23, 206) will be in Belgrade on Wednesday to watch Partizan play
Khimki Moscow Region, but is not expected to make his Turkish Airlines
Euroleague debut until next week.

contract with a player Sava Lesic. With the arrival of power forward
from USA, which is expected in the next two to three days, BC Partizan
mt:s would have a surplus of players at position 4 in its roster and
therefore agreement was terminated in cooperation with Sava Lesic.
October 25, 2010 - KK Cedevita lands big man Plaisted

Cedevita signed big man Trent Plaisted for the coming season, bringing
him back to Croatia after playing for Zadar last season. He takes the
place of Aaron Pettway, who has been released. Plaisted (211, 24)
averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Zadar in the
Eurocup last season.

Kazan bolstered its perimeter attack with the signing of swingman Ricky
Minard, who finished last season with fellow Russian side BC Khimki.

Pilsen has turned to one of the best players in Europe over the past
decade to fill the team’s void at center by signing Nikola Vujcic for
the season. Vujcic (211, 32) was named to the Euroleague’s All-Decade
team last season after reaching six Final Fours and winning two
Euroleague titles during that span.

Zaragoza pulled off the biggest upset in Spain's ACB so far by stunning
Barcelona over the weekend. Taking on the defending champions of Europe
inside their own Palau Blaugrana, Zaragoza’s Argentina international
sharpshooter Paolo Monteros sent the game to overtime by burying a
three-pointer from the top of the key right before the end despite
being closely guarded by Barcelona's Ricky Rubio.

October 21, 2010 - Holden first to play in 200 Euroleague games!

guard J.R. Holden of CSKA Moscow added another accolade to his
already-full list on Thursday when he became the first player to take
part in 200 Euroleague Basketball games. Holden came off the bench in
the first quarter of CSKA's season-opening Turkish Airlines Euroleague
game on Thursday against visiting Armani Jeans Milano. Before the game,
at midcourt, CSKA presented Holden with a commemorative jersey with the
number 200 on the back.
October 21, 2010 - Euroleague season started for NLB teams
Another
Turkish Airlines Euroleague season started also for the NLB League
teams on Wednesday when Union Olimpija played its inaugural game in
Ljubljana. It what might be called a classical duel between two
ex-team-mates, nowadays coaches Jure Zdovc (Olimpija) and Velimir
Perasović (Efes Pilsen) the hosts were successful but they needed two
over-times for celebrating the victory 95:90.
October 21, 2010 - Real Madrid adds backcourt depth with Fisher

Madrid reached an agreement with combo guard Josh Fisher on the signing
of a three-month contract on Wednesday night. Fisher (189, 29) helps
add dept to the backcourt with playmaker Pablo Prgioni sidelined with a
hand injury. Fisher practiced with Madrid during the preseason, so he
is already familiar with head coach Ettore Messina's style and most of
his new teammates.

The
2010/11 season of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague was launched on
Monday as Olympiacos hosted Real Madrid as a repeat of a season opener
ten years ago. Ettore Messina was once again forced to leave the game
with his head down after his team lost the game 66-82 against the Reds.

season long thanks to a new agreement with Euroleague Basketball and
Canal + Poland. The agreement allows the country's team in the
competition, Asseco Prokom Gdynia, to be seen live in all of Poland,
with the majority of its games available on the premium channel of the
Canal + platform and thE rest on a sports-dedicated channel.
October 19, 2010 - Lietuvos Rytas adds veteran guard Khalid El-Amin

Rytas found a replacement for the starting point guard Jerry Johnson
who will be out for 6-7 weeks due to an injury. American point guard
Khalid El-Amin became the latest addition to the team. The 31-year-old
veteran spent last season in Ukraine with Budyvelnik Kyiv.

Wloclawek signed playmaker Chris Thomas for two seasons, bringing the
player back to the club that he helped win the 2007 Polish Cup. Thomas

Basket signed sharpshooting swingman Nebojsa Bogavac to a six-week deal
to help out with Laurent Foirest sidelined. Foirest is still recovering
from a ruptured achilles tendon. Bogavac (198, 36) has spent the past
several seasons playing in France.

BC became the first team to register a win in the 2010-11 Turkish
Airlines Euroleague by downing Real Madrid 82-66 in the competition's
Opening Game at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Pireaus, Greece in
Group B on Monday. Olympiacos proved right away that it is a top
candidate to go far in the Euroleague this season, but Madrid showed
great character and stayed in the game for the opening three quarters.

showdown, as Olympiacos hosts Real Madrid on Monday at 20:45 CET. Both
teams faced each other at the Euroleague Opening Game on October 16,
2000. Madrid beat Olympiacos 75-73 back then and 10 years later, both
teams are serious about opening another decade with a victory.

October 18, 2010 - BC Khimki: Kelati, one month out

Khimki Moscow Region small forward Thomas Kelati will be sidelined for
at least one month due to a knee injury, the club announced this
weekend. Kelati did not travel to Kaunas to take part in his team's VTB
League against Zalgiris, as he damaged the knee and ankle ligaments. He
is expected to be sidelined for one month.

teams - CEZ Basketball Nymburk, Zagreb CO, Union Olimpija and Cedevita
- are undefeated after three Adriatic League games and tie for first
place atop the standings. Nymburk edged Igokea 70-65 home on Saturday
behind 19 points from Tre Simmons. Olimpija survived a tough test by
edging archrivals Krka 70-69 in Ljubljana on Friday.

Moscow became the second Euroleague team to beat an NBA side on
American soil on Saturday night when it wrapped up its share of the
Euroleague American Tour 2010 with an 87-90 victory over the Cleveland
Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Ramunas
Siskauskas scored 22 points – including a pair of clutch free throws
with 6.8 seconds remaining – and Jamont Gordon added 19 points, 7
rebounds and 6 assists for the Russian champs.

October 15, 2010 - Virtus Roma lands Vladimir Dasic
Virtus
Roma announced on Friday morning the addition of forward Vladimir Dasic
(208, 22) to a temporal deal of four months with the option to extend
it until the end of the 2012-13 season. Dasic had arrived during late
September in Rome to practice with the team only, but last weekend he
took part in the Sassari Tourney averaging 10.0 points and 7.5 rebounds
in the two games, convincing coach Matteo Boniciolli for a longer
agreement.

Electronics Valencia brought back a member of its 2010 Eurocup
championship squad by signing forward Florent Pietrus to a two-month
contract. Pietrus (202, 29) arrives from Caja Laboral, for whom he
signed a one-moth deal as an injury replacement at the start of the
season. He appeared in three Spanish League games for Laboral this
season, averaging 4 points and 6.7 rebounds in 18 minutes.

after a long meeting held under the Players Union. Therefore the Greek
A1 which was due to start this weekend is put on hold for indefinitely.

Laboral's Euroleague American Tour debut was an impressive one, but the
Spanish champ ran out of steam in the fourth quarter and their late
comeback was not enough in a 110-105 loss at the Memphis Grizzlies.
Laboral led by double-figures in the second quarter and held narrow
leads at halftime and at the end of the third quarter, but a 10-0
Memphis charge in the middle of the fourth quarter to put the hosts up
14 was too much to overcome.

Moscow fell to 0-2 on the tour with a 97-89 loss at Oklahoma City.
Still shorthanded with Euroleague Defensive Player of the Year Viktor

champs had trouble stopping the NBA's top scorer, Kevin Durant who
recorded all of his 20 points in the first half.

Euroleague season starts as point guard Jerry Johnson suffered a
partial Achilles tendon tear in his right foot that will sideline him
for at least 6 weeks, the club confirmed Thursday. Johnson (183, 28)
signed a two-year contract in the summer and was playing as the L.
Rytas starting point guard before suffering the injury in a Lithuanian
League game on Wednesday.

The
2010-11 Eurocup is ready to roll after the Regular Season Draw,
celebrated on Thursday in Barcelona, produced eight competitive groups
that will head into action on November 16. This regular season's
32-team field includes just one of the last eight champions from
earlier editions of the competition: Hapoel Jerusalem, which landed in
Group G.

shortly before the Euroleague season begins. Last season it was Bo
McCalebb, who became an All-Euroleague selection as he led the team to
the Final Four. The Serbian champion hopes to hit the jackpot again
with Oliver Lafayette, who will make his European debut with the club.

Azovmash bolstered its backcourt with the addition of point guard
Wykeen Kelly, the club announced Wednesday. Kelly (186, 31) signed a
one-year contract. He arrives from Israeli club Hapoel Holon and also
played for Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus last season, for whom he averaged
10.4 points and 4.4 assists in the FIBA EuroChallenge.

October 13, 2010 - Unicaja guard Blanco injures calf
Unicaja
guard Saul Blanco will miss the start of the Turkish Airlines
Euroleague season due to a calf injury on his left leg suffered in
training on Tuesday. Blanco underwent an MRI on Wednesday and is
expected to sit out three weeks, which could keep him from at least
Unicaja's first two Euroleague games.

Euroleague.TV will offer live broadcasts of three Euroleague American
Tour 2010 games in the coming days. The free service starts Thursday,
when Spanish champion Caja Laboral visits the Memphis Grizzlies at
20:00 local time (02:00 CET on Friday). It will be Caja Laboral's first

Moscow put up a good effort in the Euroleague American Tour 2010 opener
on Tuesday night against the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena
in Miami, Florida, but came up short 96-85 in the end. Despite playing
without three of its top players – All-Euroleague forward and Defensive
Player of the Year Viktor Khryapa, starting center Sasha Kaun and
veteran playmaker J.R. Holden – the Russian champion led at halftime
and challenged throughout the second half, cutting the gap to 5 with
four minutes to play.

October 11, 2010 - Trifunovic returns to Lietuvos Rytas
The
management of Lietuvos Rytas acted quickly and found a replacement to
Drazen Anzulovic who was released on Friday. Lithuanian champions
brought back their former head coach Aleksandar Trifunovic who has
previously coached the club for one-and-a-half seasons through
2006-2008.
October 11, 2010 - Court rejects suit against Euroleague Basketball
The
Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected a lawsuit that the
Spanish professional league (ACB) filed last January against Euroleague
Basketball in reaction to the recent change of structure in Europe's
top competition. CAS specified that the claim made against Euroleague
Basketball S.L., Euroleague Properties S.A., Euroleague Commercial
Assets S.A. and Jordi Bertomeu cannot be judged and therefore must be
dropped.

added another reinforcement for the new season with the signing of
swingman Joe Krabbenhoft, who started the season in Spain. Krabbenhoft

Adriatic League opened with some unexpected results as a pair of
Euroleague teams lost their openers. Buducnost edged Partizan and
Cedevita topped Cibona. Meanwhile CEZ Nymburk won its Adriatic League
debut and Union Olimpija registered a big win. A Nikola Otasevic layup
with six seconds remaining lifted Buducnost to a 78-79 road win at
Partizan.

Less
than two weeks before the Turkish Airlines Euroleague starts, Armani
Jeans Milano announced the completion of its roster with the signing of
Mike Nardi at point guard. Nardi (185, 25) previously debuted in the
Euroleague by playing four games in the 2008-09 season for Air Avellino
of Italy.

A
homegrown talent, forward Dino Muric is the latest in a string of
additions to the Union Olimpija Ljubljana roster. Muric (200, 20) was
one of the last two players cut before the Slovenian national team
played in this summer's World Championships.
