It
is to be expected that strenuous preparation exhausts the players to a
certain level. Therefore it makes sense to organise a regeneration
practice during or after the preparation cycle. We had one in the
swimming pool in Rogaska Slatina.
A lot of studies on regeneration after doing sports have been written
in the last years and we are more and more realising what an important
element is regeneration in today´s sport. Considering the reputation of
Rogaska Slatina as a health resort and a touristic town with several
swimming pools with thermal water and other services we focused on
practice in a swimming pool with thermal water.
The water temperature is 33 degrees Celsius. We started off with a ten
minute swim. This was followed by stretching in the water, which was
identical to the stretching in the gym. After the warm up and
stretching we did various exercises (different jumps, running, running
with lifting, jumping, diving, props) which are shown in the pictures.
We performed all these exercises in three series, which intensified in
time (20, 30 and 40 seconds). We have to be careful at each exercise.
We have to be careful that we execute all exercises carefully and
thoroughly, because the water resistance can sometimes be stronger than
any weight on dry land. Muscles are in danger in case of an excessive
practice, because the muscles relax faster in thermal water and there
is a bigger possibility for injuries.
This sort of practice is mostly meant to be a form of improving the
team spirit and connection among the players. Therefore I propose that
you prepare a practice for your players that is interesting and at the
same time different… After practice in water the players went to saunas
and relaxed in the whirlpool, where the water temperature reaches 36
degrees Celsius. This hot swimming pool is often used for
rehabilitation after various injuries.
