January 29, 2010 - Jasikevicius left out of Greek A1!
In a rather surprising decision Zeljko Obradovic decided to let Sarunas Jasikevicius out of Panathinaikos' roster for Greek domestic competitions and registered newly signed Marcus Haislip instead.

January 29, 2010 - Top 16, Week 1 tri-MVPs: Siskauskas, Javtokas, San Emeterio
The first week of the Top 16 was so exciting and evenly matched that three players will share the weekly MVP honor after having posted performance index ratings of 29 each. Robertas Javtokas of BC Khimki Moscow Region and Ramunas Siskauskas of CSKA Moscow led their teams to key home victories to open the Top 16, while Fernando San Emeterio of Caja Laboral shined in a losing effort.

January 27, 2010 - EuroCup, Last 16 Game 1 co-MVPs: Marko Popovic, Unics and Julius Jenkins, Alba Berlin
The Eurocup Last 16 started with best individual performances among winning teams in Week 1 coming from Julius Jenkins of Alba Berlin and Marko Popovic of Unics, each with a 26 index rating.

January 24, 2010 - CAJA LABORAL: Taquan Dean comes aboard
Caja Laboral reinforced its backcourt ahead of the Top 16 by signing shooter Taquan Dean to a one-month deal. Dean (193, 26) joins Caja Laboral days after he left Unicaja, with who he began the season.

January 24, 2010 - Panathinaikos agrees with Haislip
Panathinaikos has agreed terms with American power-forward Marcus Haislip and everything is set for the final signatures in a matter of days. The Greens were after a big deal after the injury of Kostas Tsartsaris and the tough schedule they will have to deal with in February.

January 23, 2010 - Panathinaikos star Batiste starts Top 16 hurt
Defending champion Panathinaikos will start the Top 16 without one of its top stars, big man Mike Batiste, after he tore a calf muscle in a domestic game. Batiste, 33, was injured during a Greek Cup semifinal game on Wednesday.

January 23, 2010 - ALBA BERLIN brings in shooting star Lucca Staiger
Alba Berlin strengthened its backcourt over the weekend by signing shooting guard Lucca Staiger to a two-and-a-half year contract. Staiger (194, 21) arrives from US college Iowa State University.

January 21, 2010 - New all-white basketball league set to start in the USA
An amazingly shocking piece of news has reached us from the other side of the Atlantic, that of the start of a new basketball league in the United States, a league different than any other as it is an "all-white league". The league which will consist of 12 teams will start next June and only players whose both parents are of Caucasian race will be eligible to compete.

January 20, 2010 - UNICAJA adds playmaker Zab Dowdell
Unicaja has reached an agreement with playmaker Zabian Dowdell on a deal for the remainder of the season, the club confirmed Tuesday. Unicaja has an option to extend the deal until the end of the 2010-11 season. Dowdell (191, 25) arrives from Tulsa of the NBDL.

January 20, 2010 - EuroLeague Top 16, Group E protagonists
A lot of familiar faces will come together in Top 16 Group E, all with the same goals of advancing to the Quarterfinal Playoffs. Group E not only boasts defending champion Panathinaikos, but along with Regal FC Barcelona, it is the only group with two teams from the 2009 Final Four and the only group with two Euroleague champs from the past decade.

Group I features three teams that were in the Euroleague Qualifying Round before the start of this 2009-10 Eurocup season - Aris BSA, Alba Berlin and Le Mans - plus a former competition champion, none other than DKV Joventut, that lifted the then-called ULEB Cup trophy in 2008.

January 19, 2010 - Efes Pilsen tabs Bojan Popovic from Rytas
Efes Pilsen on Tuesday improved its roster for the upcoming Top 16 by inking point guard Bojan Popovic, the Euroleague's regular season steals leader, for the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday. January 19, 2010 - BENETTON appoints Repesa as new boss
Benetton Gioco Digitale and Jasmin Repesa signed a multi-year deal for the veteran coach guide the Italian powerhouse, the club announced Monday. Repesa, 49, has coached in Italy in each of the last seven seasons. He has also led the Croatian national team since 2007.

January 19, 2010 - REAL MADRID signs Ante Tomic for 3.5 years
Real Madrid signed young center Ante Tomic to a multi-year deal through the end of the 2012-13 season, the club announced Monday. Tomic (217, 22) arrives from KK Zagreb, where he has been the team's brightest star in recent seasons.

January 19, 2010 - Panathinaikos: Tsartsaris to miss Top 16
Panathinaikos power forward Kostas Tsartsaris was injured for the second time this season and will be out of action until the end of February, missing the entire Top 16. Tsartsaris, 30, was sidelined this time by a broken bone in his left hand that he suffered during a Greek League game against AEK over the weekend.

Two days after its second coach this season resigned, Aris BSA 2003 has landed another big name for its bench, David Blatt, who arrived in Thessaloniki on Friday afternoon to sign his contract and take command of the Yellows. Blatt arrives to Aris after having led another team, Dynamo Moscow, to the Eurocup Final Eight last season.

January 17, 2010 - Katsikaris lands on Bilbao bench
Two days after he resigned the bench on one Eurocup regular season group winner, head coach Fotis Katsikaris will take up with another, specifically Bilbao Basket, the club announced on Friday.

January 15, 2010 - Week 10 co-MVPs: Rubio, Siskauskas
The 2009-10 regular season ended with a former Euroleague MVP and a rising star of world basketball sharing the honor for Week 10's top individual performance. Ramunas Siskauskas of CSKA and Ricky Rubio of Regal FC Barcelona each posted performance index ratings of 33, leading their teams to finish first in their respective groups.

January 15, 2010 - Cibona adds veteran Udrih
Cibona Zagreb celebrated its passage to the Top 16 on Thursday by adding experience to the roster in the person of swingman Sam Udrih, who has played one previous season in the Euroleague. Udrih (195, 30) arrives from half a season at his original club, KK Polzela in Slovenia.

January 14, 2010 - Unicaja lands guard Juan Dixon
One day after the end of the regular season, Unicaja announced the addition of guard Juan Dixon (191, 31) for theremainder of the season. Dixon arrived from Aris BSA 2003, where he was playing until last month. In Eurocup action, Dixon averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 boards and 2.8 assists in 4 appearances in over 27 minutes per game.

January 14, 2010 - Aris head coach Katsikaris resigns
Aris BSA 2003 announced on Wednesday that head coach Fotis Katsikaris resigned his post, citing personal reasons. After a lengthy meeting with the coach, club management accepted his resignation.

January 13, 2010 - EuroCup Regular season Week 6 MVP: Mike Taylor, Crvena Zvezda
The Eurocup regular season came to an end with the best individual performances of all winning teams on Tuesday coming from Mike Taylor of Crvena Zvezda with a 35 index rating. Although Terrell Lyday of Unics tied for the same index rating, Taylor is the MVP because his team was victorious in Week 6 while Lyday's was not.

January 13, 2010 - Zalgiris inks prospect Mario Delas
Just before taking its last chance to get into the Top 16, Zalgiris Kaunas announced on Wednesday morning the addition of young forward Mario Delas for the next three-and-a-half seasons. Delas (207, 20) arrives from KK Split in his native Croatia, where he was averaging 9.9 points and 3.7 rebounds through 10 domestic games this seasion.

January 11, 2010 - Top 16 Draw procedure
A Top 16 Draw to determine the groups that make up the Euroleague's second phase of competition will be held on Monday, January 18 in Barcelona, Spain. The Top 16 Draw will begin at 13:00 CET and will be broadcast through live streaming video on Euroleague.net. The draw marks a new step on the road to the 2010 Euroleague Final Four, which will take place in Paris, France.

January 8, 2010 - Week 9 co-MVPs: Milos Teodosic and Chuck Eidson
Two players in big roles this season for historic clubs shared the Week 9 MVP honor while leading their respective teams to important victories for position in the Top 16. Olympiacos rising star Milos Teodosic and Chuck Eidson of Maccabi Electra, last season's Eurocup MVP, recorded performance index ratings of 34 each to earn the weekly MVP award for the first time in their careers.

January 8, 2010 - Zalgiris interested in Jeremiah Massey
Following the injury of Travis Watson, who will be out of action for three weeks, Zalgiris started looking for a replacement. Lrytas.lt got a confirmation from Zalgiris Sports Director Algirdas Brazys who said that Jeremiah Massey is on the list of the players that the club is looking at.

January 5, 2010 - Fenerbahce Ulker announces agreement with Ukic
Weeks after releasing its starting point guard, Fenerbahce Ulker has moved to add backcourt strength by signing Roko-Leni Ukic, a former double-digit scorer in the Euroleague. Although Fenerbahce is still in a tight race to reach the Top 16 from Group A, Ukic apparently will not be registered to play in Wednesday's road game at Montepaschi Siena.

January 5, 2010 - BENETTON brings in big man Tyrone Grant
Benetton Basket addressed injury problems in its frontcourt by signing big man Tyrone Grant to a one-month deal. The club reserves an option to extend the deal. Grant (202, 32) has extensive experience in the Italian League, playing in the past for Livorno, Avellino, Teramo, Milano, Bologna and Veroli.

January 4, 2010 - BILBAO BASKET signs Axel Hervelle
A former competition champion switched Spanish teams, as Bizkaia Bilbao Basket reached an agreement with power forward Axel Hervelle to sign a contract for the remainder of the season, the club confirmed Monday.

January 4, 2010 - Brittney Griner dunks twice!!!
NCAA Women's Basketball has a new star. Brittney Griner from Baylor University dunks twice in game against Texas State. Her team won by 99:18, and she had 26 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. The blocks gave Griner the Baylor record for blocks in a season with 87, just 14 games in.

January 3, 2010 - ARIS BSA 2003 adds big man Dragan Labovic
Aris BSA 2003 continued its midseason shakeup by signing big man Dragan Labovic on Saturday through the summer of 2012, the club announced on its website. Labovic (207, 22) arrives from Serbian side FMP.

January 3, 2010 - Scoonie Penn returns to Olympiacos
Olympiacos has reached back into its recent past to add depth and experience to its backcourt by signing guard James "Scoonie" Penn for the remainder of the season. Penn (180, 33) started the current season with Virtus Bologna and returns to Piraeus after three years to replace Von Wafer, who was released three weeks ago.

January 1, 2010 - PROKOM signs Ratko Varda for one month

Asseco Prokom Gdynia bulked up its frontline by signing veteran center Ratko Varda to a one-month contract with an option to extend it for the rest of the season. He returns to the Euroleague after playing two games for Zalgiris last season.
