averaged 18.8 points while shooting 60.0% on two-pointers in his team's
four February victories. He also compiled 3.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and

January 29, 2019 - MVP for January: Alex Tyus, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv
For
Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv to rise from 14th place to a share of the final
playoff spot during the first month of 2019 required a great collective
effort. The Maccabi player who was most consistent and remarkably
efficient throughout the month, center AlexTyus, is Euroleague
Basketball's choice as the MVP for January. Tyus is the last link on
Maccabi's roster to the 2014 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title team,
and his desire to return to those glory days was evident throughout the
team's January surge. Tyus was so focused that he made 26 of his 31
total two-point shot attempts for a remarkable field-goal accuracy rate
of 83.9% in January. At the other end of the court, he was also
aggressive enough to block 4 shots in a victory against CSKA Moscow
that Maccabi fans may one day look back upon as a late-decade turning
point for their team. Despite three of his teammates playing more
minutes in January, Tyus led Maccabi in points (56), two-point shots
made (26), blocks (7) and performance index rating (73) for the month.

November 8, 2018 - Round 6
Two teams remain unbeaten in the Turkish Airlines
EuroLeague, but CSKA Moscow and Real Madrid both face tough tests on
the road in a Round 6 schedule that also contains the always-exciting

battle at the top of the standings will take place on Thursday evening
in Italy, where AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan (4-1) will look for a
fourth successive victory when it takes on undefeated CSKA Moscow.
Milan has certainly been giving its fans plenty of excitement this

scorelines (81-80) thanks to heroic interventions from Mike James, who
has now scored last-gasp winning baskets in four of his last eight
regular season games. Victories like those breed a huge amount of
confidence, and Milan will fancy its chances of ending CSKA's perfect
record this week.

November 4, 2018 - Round 5 MVP: Gustavo Ayon, Real Madrid
Real
Madrid needed to come back from a double-digit deficit in a tough road
venue on Friday night, and its big man Gustavo Ayon had a big
all-around performance to help the reigning champs do just that. Madrid
remained perfect on the season with a come-from-behind 79-90 road win
over Zalgiris Kaunas and in the process Ayon earned the MVP honor for
Round 5. He scored 13 points on 4-for-5 two-pointers and 5-of-8 from a
free throw line. He also pulled down 10 rebounds, dished 4 assists, had
3 steals and a block, while drawing 8 fouls and accumulating a
performance index rating of 30. It is Ayon’s highest PIR since Round 1
of last season, and the fifth MVP of the Round award of his EuroLeague
career. Will Clyburn of CSKA Moscow had an index rating of 29, second
best in this round. In a win over Olympiacos Piraeus, Clyburn had 17
points, 9 rebounds, a career-high 4 steals, 1 assists, 1 block and 7

challenges. Here are five big things to watch for in Round 5. There
could not be a more exciting start to the week as two heavyweights go
into battle: CSKA Moscow (4-0) against Olympiacos Piraeus (3-1) in the
Russian capital. There have, of course, been plenty of memorable
encounters between the two teams in recent years, although CSKA would
prefer not to remember its quartet of Final Four losses to the Reds,

October 30, 2018 - MVP for October: Walter Tavares, Real Madrid
On
a team known for its prolific offense, a defensive ace stood tallest in
the first month of the season, which is why Walter "Edy" Tavares of
Real Madrid is Euroleague Basketball's choice as MVP for October in the
Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The 2.20-meter center was Madrid's anchor
throughout a perfect 4-0 run in October, when the team's 386 points
were the most ever collected in the season's first month. Tavares
scored his fair share, averaging 10.3 points by making 72.7% of his
two-pointers and 77.8% of his free throws. But it was his defense that
shined as he ripped 9.5 rebounds and made 3.0 blocks per game, both of
which rank him first among all EuroLeague players. Added up, his
numbers gave Tavares a 19.5 performance index rating, sixth-best in the
competition, while on a per-minute basis, he was third with a prorated
PIR of 35.4 over 40 minutes. Read more here.
October 27, 2018 - Round 4 MVP: Nando De Colo, CSKA Moscow

three-pointers and 6-of-7 free throws. He added 2 rebounds, 6 assists,
4 steals – tying his career-high – and 4 fouls drawn for a PIR of 27.

October 11, 2018 - Round 1
The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague is back! With fans
all over the continent looking forward to everything that the next few
months have in store, let's take a look at five of the biggest stories
ahead of Regular Season Round 1. One of the highlights of the opening
week comes with a now-traditional meeting of champions, with last
season's EuroLeague and EuroCup winners going head to head. Although
the expectation might be for EuroLeague champ Real Madrid to triumph at
home against Darussafaka Tefken Istanbul, history suggests the Spanish
giants might not have it quite so easy: last season saw Unicaja Malaga
upset the odds by overcoming Fenerbahce Istanbul in a 68-67 thriller,
while the previous year saw Galatasaray push CSKA Moscow hard before a
big fourth quarter allowed the Russian team to pull clear. And in 2015,
Madrid suffered at the hands of that year's EuroCup winners Khimki
Moscow Region, losing 84-70 in Russia.
Here is the schedule for Round 1:
FC Bayern Munich vs. Anadolu Efes Istanbul 71-90
Fenerbahce Istanbul vs. Herbalife Gran Canaria 97-72
Zalgiris Kaunas vs. KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 79-87
Khimki Moscow Region vs. Olympiacos Piraeus 66-87
Real Madrid vs. Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul 109-93
Panathinaikos OPAP Athens vs. Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv 89-84
CSKA Moscow vs. FC Barcelona Lassa 95-75
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica vs. AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan 71-82
