Nothing is more exciting or nerve wracking though than comebacks in the NBA. Just when you think a team is out for the count in a particular game, everything is turned on its head. Suddenly, everything has changed.

Soon the next NBA finals will be upon us - trust us, you’ll want to check out Fanduel's NBA finals odds before that happens - and so to celebrate, we thought that we would cover some of the 5 best comebacks in NBA finals history. Keep reading on for more information!

2006,  Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks

What a spectacular game this was. For the vast majority of the game, the Dallas Mavericks were obliterating their opponents, Miami Heat. They had a seemingly unstoppable 2-0 series lead and 13 points over their opponent. It seemed like a game over for Miami Heat.

That was until the final 6:30 minutes. Miami Heat saw that they were losing 89-76, but they certainly were not willing to go down without a fight. Suddenly, Dwayne Wade and Shaquill O’Neal pull out all of the stops, making baskets at the most pivotal moments.

Finally, Miami managed to gain a 95-93 lead, but the game ultimately ended in a tie with just 33 seconds left on the clock. With 9 seconds to go, a play by Wade was made to stop the game ending in a final tie, and Heat went on to win the next four games in a row. It’s not surprising that this momentum led them to their very first NBA Title win.

2008, Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers

As you’ll soon see, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have quite the history of incredible comebacks between them. We wouldn’t be surprised if fans of either of these teams got a little nervous when they were both playing against each other.

In this instance, during Game 4 of the 2008 season, the Lakers were well on their way to victory with a great 45 - 21 lead. By the time the second quarter rolled around they were at 72-57 - it didn’t seem possible that the Celtics would catch up with just 4:30 to space.

It was in the third quarter that the Boston Celtics made their almighty return from the ashes with a 21-3 run, giving them a score of 73-71. They had a lead with just four minutes left on the clock and were relentless in holding onto this lead. Thankfully it paid off, since they ultimately won the game.

2013, Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs

One thing is most certainly for sure - Miami Heat sure know how to make a comeback. Again, there were mere minutes to go until the Spurs would take home a 4-2 series win and their NBA title. The team was ready to solidify the win - that was until LeBron James appeared, making a three pointer with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock.

The seconds continued to count down until the game was thrust into overtime and Miami Heat managed to secure a 103-100 win, and the game quickly fell out of the grasp of the Spurs. We will say one thing - we’re glad we weren’t the Spurs that day.

1995, Houston Rockets vs Orlando Magic

It certainly would take a kind of magic for the Houston Rockets to win this particular game, as they were falling behind Orlando Magic 57-37. It seemed likely that Magic would win the game up until the final 3:35.

Then Clyde Dexter was victorious in bringing his team more points, with just 11 points between the two teams. The Rockets really gave the final few minutes everything that they had and the game was ultimately forced to go into overtime.

With barely a second remaining, another basket was scored by Olajuwon, leading the Rockets to victory, with this moment becoming one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history.

2010, Los Angeles Lakers vs Boston Celtics

In 2010, the Lakers were ready to take their great revenge for the comeback from the Celtics two years prior.

This time, it seemed that the Celtics were ready to win the game with a lead of 49-36 with eight minutes left of the third quarter. The Lakers hadn’t had the best of luck up until this point, but luckily Pau Gasol would step in to save the game. Ultimately the team managed to make a 32-15 run and were in the lead by 68-64. By the end of the game the Lakers had a massive 6 points over the Celtics, leading them to an exciting victory.

Conclusion

These are some of the moments that we live to see as basketball fans. What comebacks will we see in the years to come? We’re excited to find out!
