January 5, 2011 - Week 6 MVP: Dontaye Draper, Cedevita
|
|
|
A
brilliant performance with his team’s season on the line from Cedevita
playmaker Dontaye Draper not only lifted his team to victory and the
Last 16, but landed him Eurocup Week 6 MVP honors and cemented his
arrival as one of the top young guards in Europe. Draper poured in 32
points on 9-of-14 two-point and 3-of-6 three-point shooting in addition
to 5 rebounds, 7 assists and just 1 turnover as Cedevita turned away BC

January 4, 2011 - Gran Canaria 2014 wins Group C!
|
|
|
In
a long-awaited showdown, Gran Canaria 2014 became the Group C champion
by edging Buducnost m:tel 62-60 at home on Tuesday. The game was
originally scheduled to be played on December 21, 2010 but was
suspended due to the impossibility of the Montenegrin team to travel to
the Canary Islands due to snow storms that closed several airports
around Europe. Gran Canaria won Group C with a 4-2 record due to its
tie-break advantage against Budivelnik. Read more here.

January 4, 2011 - Gran Canaria vs. Buducnost on Tuesday
|
|
|
The
final game of the 2010-11 Eurocup regular season takes place on Tuesday
on the Spanish Canary Islands where Gran Canaria 2014 hosts KK
Buducnost to determine the outcome of Group C and the last two tickets
to the Last 16 stage. The game was originally scheduled to take place
two weeks earlier, but was postponed when weather conditions prevented
the Montenegrin champs from reaching Gran Canaria. Read more here.

December 21, 2010 - Hemofarm survived despite losing 81-80
|

Hemofarm
Stada advanced to the Last 16, despite losing Tuesday to Asvel Basket
81-80 in a Eurocup thriller. Hemofarm lost the game, but edged out
Asvel for second place in Group A on a tiebreaker. Both teams finished
with 3-3 records, but because Hemofarm won their first meeting 97-93 in
Serbia last month, the 1-point loss still kept it ahead of Asvel in the
standings. Teenager Danilo Andusic paced Hemofarm with a career-high 20
points, while Boris Savovic added 16 points and 10 boards and Mustafa
Abdul Hamid scored 12, including a key triple to oust the hosts from

December 15, 2010 - Week 5 MVP: Ebi
Ere, Pepsi Caserta
|
|
|
An
outstanding performance in a winning effort was needed for Ebi Ere of
Pepsi Caserta to become the Eurocup regular season Week 5 MVP. Ere
helped Caserta to seal a ticket to the Last 16 with a resounding 94-67
home win against Krasnye Krylia. Ere had 32 points on 7-of-9
two-pointers and 5-of-8 three-pointers. He added 9 rebounds, 2 steals,
2 blocks, an assist and 7 fouls drawn to amass a 35 performance index
rating, the highest for any Eurocup player on a winning team this week.

December 14, 2010 - Hemofarm topped
Besiktas 101-100
|

Hemofarm
Stada improved its chances to advance to the Top 16 and moved up to 3-2
in Group B by edging Besiktas Cola Turka 101-100 in Vrsac, Serbia on
Tuesday night. Hemofarm will advance to the Last 16 - and Besiktas will
be eliminated - if BG Goettingen downs Asvel Basket later on tonight.
Boris Savovic paced the winners with 23 points on 10-of-11 free throws.
Milan Macvan added 22, Miljan Pavkovic added 16 - all in the second
half and overtime -, Mustafa Abdul-Hamid got 12 while Jerome Jordan
contributed 10 for Hemofarm. Mire Chatman led Besiktas with 43 points
on 12-of-14 two-pointers and 13-of-15 free throws. Read more here.

A
near-perfect performance in a winning effort on Tuesday lifted center
Primoz Brezec of Krasnye Krylia to a performance index rating of 40 –
the best of the Eurocup regular season so far - to become Week 4 MVP!
Brezec led Krylia to a pivotal 83-98 road win over Anwil Wloclawek in
Group H by scoring 25 points on 11-of-11 two-point and 3-of-4
free-throw shooting. He added 12 rebounds, an assist, a block and 5
fouls drawn to amass a 40 index rating. Read more here.

December 7, 2010 - Goettingen
ambushed Hemofarm 67-79
|

BG
Goettingen remained undefeated in the Eurocup by beating KK Hemofarm
Stada 67-79 on Tuesday. Mike Scott and Dwayne Anderson scored 26 points
apiece to lead Goettingen, which sits atop Group B with a 3-0 record
and a game at hand. The hosts fell to 2-2 in the Group B Standings with
the loss and will have another tough matchup next week against
Besiktas, while Goettingen could seal its Last 16 ticket with a win

December 1, 2010 - Week 3 MVP:
Demetrius Alexander, BC Azovmash
|
|
|
In
one of the closest races to win the award this season, Demetrius
Alexander of BC Azovmash became the Eurocup regular season Week 3 MVP
by getting a 36 index. Azovmash was intrumental to lead Azovmash to a
critical 86-95 road win against Hapoel Gilboa/Galil with 31 points on
7-of-8 two-pointers, 5-of-7 three-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws. He
added 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and 3 fouls drawn for a 36 index.
Mindaugas Lukauskis of EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Uche Nsonwu of Chorale
Roanne also shined this week and each amassed a 35 index. Read more here.

December 1, 2010 - BG Goettingen
68-57 victory over Hemofarm Stada

Dwayne
Anderson scored 9 points in a 13-0 fourth-quarter run that lifted BG
Goettingen to a 68-57 victory over Hemofarm Stada on Tuesday night.
Goettingen led much of the game, but Hemofarm was always close behind,
took a 1-point edge briefly in the third quarter and had closed the gap
to 1 early in the fourth. That’s when Anderson took over with a pair of
emphatic slams on the offensive glass and a clutch triple that shot the
lead to 66-52 and allowed Goettingen to celebrate its second win in as
many games, while handing Hemofarm its first loss. Read more here.

A
total of 16 winners in Week 3 reached the halfway mark of the Eurocup
regular season on Tuesday with something to build on for the rest of
the round. Alba, Benetton, Budivelnik, Galatasaray and Goettingen all
remain undefeated - the first two on the road - and alone atop their
groups. Meanwhile, Cajasol, Cedevita, Le Mans and Nymburk - the last
three knocking off previously undefeated teams - moved up into
first-place ties in their groups.

November 25, 2010 - Week 2 MVP:
Christos Tapoutos, Aris BSA 2003

|
An
outstanding performance in a winning effort was required for Christos
Tapoutos of Aris BSA to become the Week 2 MVP in a close race for the
honor. Tapoutos shined in his team's home win against Hapoel
Gilboa/Galil with 25 points, making 9-of-12 two-point shots and 2-of-2
triples. He added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, a block and 3 fouls
drawn to reach a performance index rating of 32. Although Vladimir
Dragicevic tied for the same index rating, Tapoutos is the MVP because
Aris won and Dragicevic's team, Buducnost m:tel, lost against Gran
Canaria 2014. The weekly honor goes to the player with the best

November 23, 2010 - Hemofarm Stada
improved to 2-0 in Group B
|

Hemofarm
Stada improved to 2-0 in Group B of the Eurocup on Tuesday night after
edging out pesky Asvel Basket 97-93 at the Centar Millenium. Now 2-0,
head coach Zeljko Lukajic’s team will head to play BG Goettingen next
week feeling as good as one can after a tight defeat of an opponent
that did not let down despite a 21-point deficit in the third quarter.
Milan Macvan, Marko Sutalo and Bojan Krstovic paced the hosts with 13
points each, while Boris Savovic scored 12 and Danilo Andusovic 10.
Macvan aslso totaled 7 rebounds and 8 assists, while point guard Miljan
Pavkovic scored 9 points – 6 of them with clutch free throws in the
final minutes. Asvel almost made a heroic comeback thanks to point
guard Cliff Hammond’s play and 25 points and Andrija Zizic’s 19. Davon
Jefferson scored 17 and Mickael Gelabale added 14 for Asvel, who plays

Another
16-game Tuesday in Week 2 of the Eurocoup's regular season offers
golden opportunities for teams that won their openers. In a regular
season that last just six games, the second one already marks the
one-third point in the season. Last year, of the nine teams that won
their first two Eurocoup games, eight reached the Last 16. This time,
an incredible 10 road wins in opening week increases the odds that more
teams will go 2-0, since those 10 all play at home this week. Read more

Game 1 MVP: PJ Tucker, Aris BSA 2003

Among
plenty of outstanding Eurocup debuts, P.J. Tucker of Aris BSA 2003
earned the Game 1 MVP honor with a performance index rating of 35, the
best among almost 350 players who saw playing time on Tuesday. Tucker
led Aris to an 88-75 home victory over Azovmash in Group D with 28
points while making 9 of 15 two-point shots as well as his only
three-point attempt. The Eurocup weekly MVP honor goes to the best
individual performance for a winning team that week. Tucker added 6
rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 7 fouls drawn to amass his index
rating of 35. Three other players - Matt Walsh of Asvel, A.J. Ogilvy of
Besiktas Cola Turka and Marko Popovic of Unics – recorded index ratings

downed PAOK 88-77

Asefa
Estudiantes had a good return to the Eurocup after a four-year absence
by downing difficult PAOK BC 88-77 in the Spanish capital in Group F on
Tuesday. Pancho Jasen paced the winners with 16 points. Nik
Caner-Medley added 13, 7 rebounds and 5 assists while Josh Asselin had
12 points for Estudiantes. Lazaros Papadopoulos led PAOK with 24 points
and 17 rebounds - but missed his 8 free throw attempts. Todor Gecevski
added 15, Rawle Marshall had 13 while Donnie McGrath got 12 for the
guests. Papadopoulos shined in the first half and free throws by Justin
Gray gave PAOK its biggest lead, 25-31, late in the second quarter. A
10-0 run allowed Estudiantes to get a 37-33 halftime edge and soon got

November 16, 2010 - Hemofarm ruined
Allen Iverson's debut

A
thriller with the wrong ending from the home crowd's point of view saw
Hemofarm rally from 17 points down in the final quarter to stun
Besiktas Cola Turka 91-94 in the much-heralded debut by Allen Iverson
for the hosts. Five consecutive three-pointers in the last 2 minutes by
Hemofarm finished a comeback from what had been a 82-65 deficit for the
visitors with 7 minutes left. Hemofarm made 7 of its 10 three-pointers
for the night after that and came away with a good-as-gold road win in
Group B. Milan Macvan led the winners with a huge double-double of 17
points, 15 rebounds. Miljan Pavkovic, author of the go-ahead triple
with 45 seconds left, had 16 points, Mustafa Abdul Hamid 15, Milos
Borisov 14 and Bojan Krstovic 10. For Besiktas, big man Andrew Ogilvy
had his own double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Iverson
and Serhat Cetin added 15 each and Mire Chatman 13. Read more here.

in former NBA star Iverson

Besiktas
Cola Turka has made the latest and biggest-ever splash in the Eurocup
player market by signing legendary guard Allen Iverson to a one-year
contract. Iverson (185, 35) is a former two-time MVP of the NBA and is
considered among the best players his size ever in basketball. He was
the NBA's leading scorer four times, an all-star 11 times and rookie of
the year in 1997. He led Philadelphia to the 2001 NBA Finals, his only
such appearance in a 14-year career in the competition. Throughout his
NBA career, Iverson played for Philadelphia, Denver, Detroit and

Regular Season Draw results

|
The
2010-11 Eurocup is ready to roll after the Regular Season Draw,
celebrated on Thursday in Barcelona, produced eight competitive groups
that will head into action on November 16. This regular season's
32-team field includes just one of the last eight champions from
earlier editions of the competition: Hapoel Jerusalem, which landed in

October 14, 2010 - Eurocup assembly
meets before draw

Eurocup
clubs met the day before the regular season draw to be presented with
the organization's management team, as well as to discuss various
administrative issues before the start of the season. During the
meeting, club members were given an update on the ongoing research that
is being done by Mr. Roberto Branco Martins, from the T.M.C. Asser
Institute with regards to the European Social Dialogue in Professional

Regular Season Draw set for October 14 in Barcelona

A
draw to determine the groups that will make up the Regular Season
groups for the 2010-11 Eurocup will be held on Thursday, October 14 at
the Museu Olímpic i de l'Esport in Barcelona at 11:00 Local Time. The
list of teams that will make up the 2010-11 Eurocup Regular Seasons is
all but complete. The finish of the Eurocup Qualifying Round promoted
eight more clubs into the regular season, leaving two more spots that
will go to the teams that lose in the third and final stage of the
Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds. Read more here.

October 7, 2010 - Eight teams make
it to Eurocup groups

The
Eurocup Qualifying Round has come to a close with eight teams
celebrating a berth in the competition's regular season. The second
legs of the eight series provided plenty of drama, with only three of
the series finishing in sweeps. They were Besiktas ColaTurka and Hapoel
Migdal on Tuesday and Benetton B. Bwin, which routed APOEL Nicosia

17, 2010 - 2010-11 Eurocup team changes
|
|
|
After
the revocation of Maroussi BC's licence to play in the Turkish Airlines
Euroleague Qualifying Rounds, a resulting open place in the Eurocup
Regular Season has been assigned to another Greek team, PAOK BC of
Thessaloniki, Euroleague Basketball has announced. All except the two
winning teams of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds have
places held for them in the Eurocup Regular Season. With the revocation
of Maroussi's licence, one of those Eurocup Regular Season places

Qualifying Draw

Sixteen
Eurocup hopefuls now know what it will take to reach the regular season
in the competition after learning their opponents in the Qualifying
Round. Only half of the teams in the Qualifying Round will survive to
take part in the Eurocup Regular Season Draw, scheduled for Monday,
October 11, when the 32 teams set to play in the 2010-11 edition will
be divided into eight groups. Read more here.

2010-11 Eurocup

|
The
teams that will participate in the 2010-11 Euroleague and Eurocup
seasons were presented and approved Wednesday at a meeting of the
Euroleague Commercial Assetts Board in Barcelona, Spain. A total of 32
teams will play in the Eurocup regular season. The field will be made
up of 10 direct qualifiers, 14 others that come from the Euroleague
qualifying rounds and 8 more that win their way into the competition
from the Eurocup qualifying rounds. A draw for the Euroleague and
Eurocoup qualifying round will be held on July 8 in Barcelona, Spain.
The Eurocup qualifying round is due to end on Wednesday, October 6 and
the Euroleague qualifying rounds on Friday, October 8. Once all the
qualifying rounds are finished in early October, a regular season draw
to divide 32 teams in regular season groups will be held. The regular
season is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 16.

The
first events of the next basketball season, the draws for the 2010-11
Euroleague, Eurocup Qualifying Rounds and EuroChallenge, will be held
on Thursday, July 8 at the Mediapro Auditorium, Imagina (Av. Diagonal
177) in Barcelona, Spain. For the fifth consecutive year, the 2010-11
draws may be seen live on Euroleague.net. Immediately after the draw,
fans can also see live-streamed interviews on Euroleague.net with
Euroleague team coaches and managers giving their impressions of the
