November 30, 2021 - MVP for November: Walter Tavares, Real Madrid
Looking
down on the competition is normal for Walter Tavares, one of the
tallest players in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague history. The 2.20-meter
center, Euroleague Basketball's choice for MVP of November, now has
Real Madrid enjoying the view from the top, too. At the end of October,
Real was in the middle of nine teams who had won between four and six
games. A month later, Real now shares first place at 10-2 with
archrival FC Barcelona, both sitting two victories clear of the pack
barely 10 days ahead of their first El Clásico of the season. Tavares
played a central role in Real's stellar November surge. He posted
performance index ratings of 13 or more in all five victories,
ultimately leading Real for the month in total PIR (90), rebounds (35)
and blocks (9). He also scored the team's second-most points (56) while
hardly missing any shots all month long, finding the bottom of the
basket in 31 of his 40 attempts – all in less than 25 minutes per game.
With his near-perfect play during his team's perfect month, Tavares
stood heads above all EuroLeague players in November. Read more here.
November 28, 2021 - Round 12 MVP: William Howard, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne
William
Howard of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne will never forget his Round 12
performance against AS Monaco. Howard led ASVEL to a thrilling 84-85
victory, burying the game-winning shot from almost midcourt and earning
the Round 12 MVP honor in the process. Howard finished the game with
career highs of 23 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and a performance
index rating of 33 that was the highest among all EuroLeague players
this round. He was also near-perfect while shooting in 3 of 5
two-pointers, 5 of 5 triples and 2 of 4 free throws. He topped it all
off with what was arguably one of the most spectacular game-winning
shots in competition history to claim the MVP of the Round honor for
the first time in his EuroLeague career. Georgios Papagiannis of
Panathinaikos OPAP Athens followed with a PIR of 31, his new
career-high, in a 70-64 home win over Zenit St Petersburg. Papagiannis
tied his personal best with 18 points, making 8-of-9 two points shots,

week after Elie Okobo of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne took Round 7’s MVP
award, in Round 8 it was the turn of his teammate Chris Jones to step

Only
one team, FC Barcelona, made it through the first six rounds of the
regular season undefeated, and one player had the most to say about
that, do-it-all forward Nikola Mirotic, who is EuroLeague Basketball's
choice as the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP for October. Even in his
worst game of October, the sole one among seven in which his
performance index rating dipped to single digits, Mirotic was the hero,
making a buzzer-beater in traffic to seize the win. Otherwise, he was
as solid as solid gets, leading Barca in scoring and PIR in three more
victories and ranking second in one or the other category for the
team's remaining two wins. At month's end, Mirotic had amassed the
highest PIR total of all EuroLeague players, 144, and the fifth-most
points, 114, despite ranking 27th in minutes played. Read more here.
