It's almost time for March Madness, so we need to
revise the teams and their players. Today we are looking at the Gonzaga
Bulldogs, who are currently the favorites to win! The March Madness odds can change at any moment, but according to Fanduel, your money is in safe hands with the Gonzaga team. Let's see why.
1. Drew Timme - Center
21-year-old Drew Timme has racked up some incredible
statistics this season. He earned 16.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.2
assists. He joined the team in 2019 but spent most of his time as a key
reserve for the Bulldogs.
Although he did star every now and then, it wasn't until he scored a
season-high of 20 points against Saint Marys that Timme began to gain
recognition.
2. Julian Strawther - Small Forward
Strawther has also been playing a great game,
creating a balanced effort among the team. He has earned 13.2 points,
5.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists! Having joined the Gonzaga Bulldogs in
2020, he has made a name for himself. As a junior, he wowed his
competitors with 27.3 points averaged per game and 8.8 rebounds per
game too.
3. Chet Holmgren - Small Forward
Being one of the newest members of the Bulldogs
hasn’t slowed Holmgren down. He has already won numerous awards,
including the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, The Jordan Brand Classic, The
First-Team All-WCX, the WCC Newcomer of the Year, and the WCC Defensive
Player of the Year.
And that's just to name a few!
4. Rasir Bolton - Point Guard
In his 22 years, Bolton has attended at least 8
different schools. In college, he has played for Penn State, Iowa
State, and now Gonzaga. The moves have been calculated so Bolton can
reach his full potential, and we can see it already.
He has scored 10.9 points this season, caught 3.2 rebounds, and helped with 2.1 assists.
5. Andrew Nembhard - Point Guard
Nembhard has tallied up 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds,
and 4.5 assists this season so far. Florida University initially
recruited him, but after watching him play for two years, Gonzaga
snapped the boy up!
Under Gonzaga's direction, he has won the WCC Sixth Man of the Year award and the First-Team All WCC!
6. Nolan Hickmam - Point Guard
This season, Hickman can boast 7.2 points, 1.9
rebounds, and 1.7 assets. His numbers might seem low in comparison to
his team, but with just 20.2 minutes of playtime to account for, these
are some excellent ratios.
7. Anton Watson - Small Forward
21-year-old Anton Watson has played for 17.3 minutes
per game this season so far. In that time, he has earned 6.5 points,
caught 4.5 rebounds, and created 2.3 assists.
8. Hunter Sallis - Shooting Guard
Although Sallis' stats suggest he has contributed
more to the team than some of the others, if you compare his playtime
with the rest of the team, something doesn't sit right. He has played
for 14.8 minutes per game so far, but only scored 4.9 points, caught
2.6 rebounds, and helped with 0.7 assists.
9. Ben Gregg - Point Forward
Having only played for an average of 7.9 minutes so
far this season, Gregg has made a massive impression on the figures. He
has earned 3.4 points, caught 2 rebounds, and helped with 0.6 assists
per game!
10. Kaden Perry - Forward
Kaden Perry is one of the newest players for the
Gonzaga Bulldogs, having only joined the team this season. Despite his
fresh face, the Bulldogs have brought this player on for 6.6 minutes
per game on average. In that time, he has earned 1.8 points, 2.3
rebounds, and 0.1 assists per game.
11. Matthew Lang - Point Guard
Lang has only had a small amount of time on the
court so far, with only 3.6 minutes on average. In that time, he hasn't
made a great impact, having only earned 1.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and
0.1 assists. Surprisingly these are higher figures in comparison with
Martynas Arlauskas, who was on the court longer.
12. Martynas Arlauskas - Point Forward
So far, Arlauskas has been on the court for 3.9
minutes per game this season. That's 0.3 minutes more than Lang, and
yet he has only earned 0.9 points, 1 rebound, and no assists. These
numbers might seem similar, but Lang almost doubled the points earned
in those 0.3 minutes.
13. Will Graves - Point Guard
Graves has had an even shorter time on the court
with only 1.7 minutes per game to his name. And yet, he was able to
create almost the same amount of points - 0.7. Granted, Arlauskas'
rebounds were better as Grave's only tallied up to 0.3.
14. Joe Few - Guard
Few is another fresh-faced player, although he did
play for Gonzaga Prep high school. He hasn't had a real chance to show
his skills yet with only 1.8 minutes per game to his name. In that
time, he hasn't landed a basket, but he has caught 0.8 rebounds and
helped with 0.3 assists.
Summary
This is the current lineup for the Gonzaga Bulldogs; let's hope the odds continue to be in their favor!
