March 16, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 26: March 15-16, 2011
|
|
|
Buducnost
reached the Adriatic League Final Four for the first time on Tuesday
with a 102-92 victory over CEZ Nymburk. The win put the Montenegrin
champs in fourth place with a 15-11 record. Zagreb also win 15 games,
but finished behind Buducnost on a tiebreaker. Partizan mts, Krka and
Union Olimpija had previously clinched berths in the league’s
championship event, which is set for April 19-21 in Ljubljana,
Slovenia. Marko Simonovic scored 23 points and Vladimir Dragicevic 22
to lead Buducnost to Tuesday’s win. The hosts led 49-38 at halftime,
went up 18 midway through the third quarter and Nymburk never got
closer than 10 the rest of the way.

March 16, 2011 - Steamroller coming in first
|
|
|
Partizan
m:ts crowned the first position in Adriatic league with a win in
Pionir. Cibona went down in the final round of NLB league with a score
89:74 (22:19, 22:17, 20:21, 25:17). Black and whites will play
Budućnost who held position four i9n the semifinal on the final four in
Ljubljana from 19-21 April. Opening minutes went in a quick game with a
lot of points. Black and whites got in to the lead first, but team from
Zagreb took the lead with efficient game on offense 5:6. After Lucic’s
three point on guests possession a technical foul was called on
Partizan bench and Cibona’s players materialized 8:11. After first five
minutes of the game both teams entered the bonus and black and whites
had a mini run from the free throw line 5:0. Cibona answered, while
Vesely made the difference for his team 18:14. Bogdanovic did well from
outside the 6.75 line and Krapic added to his points for a new tie.
After the first ten minutes Partizan m:ts had a three point lead 22:19.

March 16, 2011 - Buducnost qualified for the F4
|
|
|
Buducnost
became the fourth club, which qualified for the Final Four Tournament .
The Montenegrian club confirmed the promotion with the Tuesday's
victory against Nymburk and will play at the final event in the NLB
League for the first time since participating in the league.

March 14, 2011 - Simon Petrov broke his tibia
|
|
|
A
successful story Krka was proud of in recent months, when it succeeded
to qualify for the NLB League Final Four Tournament, was followed by
the first huge blow in this season on Saturday. Simon Petrov, the most
experienced member of BC Krka, sustained an injury during the game
against Partizan m:ts and was immediately taken to the hospital.
According to the first news from the medical staff he broke the tibia
in his right leg and already underwent a surgery on the same evening.
Petrov is the first player from Krka's line-up, who will be sidelined
due to injury for longer period this season.

March 13, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 25: March 11-13, 2011

|
|
Partizan
shot up to first place in the Adriatic League standings by overtaking
previous leader Krka with a road win. Both teams now have 17-8 records,
but the defending champs are in first place due to a tiebreaker. Union
Olimpija missed a chance to join them for a three-way tie when it lost
at Crvena Zvezda. Partizan, Krka and Olimpija have already clinched
their spots in next month’s Adriatic League final four and will be
joined by either Buducnost or Zagreb. Partizan bested Krka 62-72 behind
18 points from Curtis Jerrells and 17 from Dusan Kecman. Krka took its
only lead, 40-38, midway through the third quarter, but Jerrells fueled
a 2-13 response as Partizan took control for good. Krka closed to
within 6 in the fourth, but Partizan had the answers. Chris Booker led
Krka with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Crvena Zvezda blew out Olimpija
92-70 as Ricardo Marsh shined with 30 points.

March 13, 2011 - First place after beating Krka
|
|
|
In
a very important duel for the leading position in NLB league, players
of Partizan m:ts overcame Krka with the score 62:72 (16:26, 17:12,
14:17, 15:17). With this win in Novo Mesto black and whites regained
the first place on the Adriatic league table. Black and whites took a
4:0 lead, but after some bad passing Krka scored on their possession
through Muric and Đorđević for a tie. Gist and Kecman led their team to
6:9. Partizan m:ts guard was in a shooting mood, he went in to double
scoring digits in the 5th minute, on the other side Drobnjak scored for
his team 11:15. After great play on D, Božić scored from downtown,
while Lucic’s game completed a 10:0 run for Vlade Jovanović’s team.
Dragic ended the run with a good drive to the basket. By the end of the
quarter, Katić and Jerrells got on the scoring sheet for a double digit
lead 16:26.

March 11, 2011 - Krka, Union Olimpija and Partizan qualified for the F4
|
|
|
First
it was Krka, Union Olimpija followed it on Tuesday and a day later the
third club was known Partizan m:ts. The three clubs mentioned already
guaranteed a spot at the 10th NLB League Final Four Tournament, which
will be held in Ljubljana between April 19th and 21st, while the fourth
member will be either Zagreb Co or Budućnost, depends how both of them
will play in the last two rounds of the regular season. After the 24th
round, played on Tuesday and Wednesday, Zagreb has a slight advantage.
With the celebration against Budućnost on the road it is one victory
ahead of its direct opponent for the F4 but plays Nymburk and Crvena
zvezda in the next few days. Nymburk too will meet also Budućnost,
which will first have to skip Cibona on Saturday to keep its hopes
alive.

March 10, 2011 - Partizan mt:s convincing against Zadar
|
|
|
Black
and whites hosted Zadar in the 24th round of Adriatic league. Partizan
m:ts players held the rhythm of the game in their hands during the
whole course of the game, so another win in Pionir hall came with a
score 85:50 (14:13, 29:12, 23:11, 19:14). After opening minutes
mistakes on both sides, Zadar’s players were the first to get their
heads in the game and got the lead 2:6. Black and whites took the lead
with threes from Kecman and Vesely – 8:6. Batur responded from the same
distance, and Vesely scored on a fast break 10:9. After
miscommunication on offense black and whites couldn’t score, Zadar took
advantage and retook the lead 10:13. By the end of the quarter
Milosavljević scored twice from distance for 14:13 which marked the end
of the first quarter.

|
Three
spots in the Adriatic League semifinals were clinched by the end of
Wednesday's games as the combination of victories for league-leading
Krka and second-placed Partizan Belgrade and Union Olimpija and a loss
for Buducnost put the first three into the next stage. With two games
remaining, fourth-placed Zagreb (14-10) and fifth-placed Buducnost
(13-11) will fight for the last remaining spot, while Cedevita,
Hemofarm Stada and Radnicki all have theoretical chances. Krka won its
17th game by taking down Cibona 67-72 thanks to Chris Booker’s 17
points. Tomislav Zubcic led Cibona with 20 points. Partizan thrashed
Zadar 85-50 led by Jan Vesely's 15 points and 12 more from Curtis
Jerrells.

March 7, 2011 - Close finish went to Igokea
|
|
|
Black
and whites met Igokea in the 23rd round of NLB league. In a fantastic
atmosphere in hall in Laktasi Vlade Jovanovic’s team couldn’t outplay
team from Aleksandrovac. In a close and eventful finish of the game
Slobodan Klipa’s players won with a score 88:86 (18:18, 25:19, 23:16,
22:33). Chase started the game with a three for his team, but Partizan
m:ts started a mini run through Vesely and Gist for 3:6. The hosts
equalized mostly through good play on defense which allowed efficient
offense 8:8. After turnovers on both sides and Igokea’s lead Gist
scored on a fast break for a new tie 10:10. Rakocevic brought Igokea a
new lead 16:12, Jerrells answered, so the first ten minutes ended in a
tie 18:18.

March 6, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 23: March 4-6, 2011
|
|
|
Krka
sits alone atop the Adriatic League standings after a win over
Buducnost coupled with Partizan mt:s’s loss at Igokea. Goran Ikonic
scored 27 points as Krka topped Buducnost 80-73 to lift its record to
16-7. Igokea upset Partizan 88-86 in a game that was not as close as
the final score indicates. Former Partizan forward Cedomir Vitkovac
scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Nebojsa Joksimovic added 14
for Igokea, which led by 16 in the fourth quarter before Partizan
mounted a late comeback that fell short. Curtis Jerrells scored 24 and
dished 6 assists and James Gist netted 17 in defeat. Union Olimpija is
tied with Partizan for second place at 15-8 after taking down Zagreb CO
85-89. Olimpija trailed by 6 early in the fourth quarter, but rode the
duo of Kenny Gregory and Goran Jagodnik to take the lead.

March 1, 2011 - Ljubljana will host the 2011 Final Four
|
|
|
On
Tuesday the NLB League Board confirmed that the 2011 Final Four
Tournament will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenija, between April 19th and
21st. It is for the fourth time in ten years that the Slovenian capital
will host the most prestigious event in regional league. The decision
was made after the final meeting on Tuesday, when members of the Board
agreed Ljubljana will be the hosting city after it successfully
organized already the tournament in the first two seasons 2001/02 and
2002/03 and for the third time in 2007/08.

February 27, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 22: February 26-27, 2011
|
|
|
Union
Olimpija edged Buducnost 70-71 on a pair of Vlado Ilievski free throws
in a clash of third-place teams to remain within a victory of the
co-Adriatic League leaders, Partizan mt:s and Krka. Ilievski tallied 19
points and 6 assists to lead Olimpija to the come-from-behind win and a
14-8 record. Vladimir Dragicevic put the hosts up 68-61 with three
minutes remaining, but a pair of Goran Jagodnik triples brought
Olimpija right back. Dragicevic made it 70-69 with 2 free throws, but
Ilievski got back to the line, put his team ahead and Nikola Otasevic
‘s desperation shot at the buzzer missed.

February 20, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 21: February 18-20, 2011
|
|
|
Krka
and Partizan mt:s Belgrade tie atop the Adriatic League standings, each
with a 14-7 record. Partizan topped archrivals Crvena Zvezda 68-76
behind 15 points from Jan Vesely and 11 from Dragan Milosavljevic.
Partizan led 46-57 after 30 minutes and kept a safe margin until the
final buzzer. Buducnost m:tel improved to 13-8 by edging Zadar 74-78 on
the road on Saturday. Vladimir Dragicevic led the winners with 23
points, Marko Scekic added 16, Marko Simonovic had 12 while Milutin
Djukanovic got 10 for Buducnost. Free throws by Scekic sealed the
outcome down the stretch.

February 7, 2011 - Partizan mt:s on a winning streak in NLB league
|
|
|
Partizan
m:ts hosted the debutant in Adriatic league, Nymburk. Black and whites
didn’t allow an upset and they maintained their rhythm from the very
beginning. Another win in the Adriatic league, Czech went down with a
score 86:75 (21:13, 24:21, 22:18, 19:23). Back and whites opened the
game well, after first points from Kecman, Milosavljevic put two
three’s together for 8:0. After two and a half minutes Czech tea m
scored its first field goal, while Bozic scored another three on the
other side for 13:4.

February 6, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 20: February 5-6, 2011
|
|
|
Two
games after the Adriatic League featured five teams tied for first
place, only Partizan mt:s and Krka Novo Mest remain atop the standings
after both won to improve to 13-7. Partizan downed CEZ Nymburk at home
Sunday 86-75. Curtis Jerrells scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds,
James Gist added 17 points and 9 rebounds, Dragan Milosavljevic netted
15 and Dusan Kecman tallied 12 points and 7 assists to lead the
defending champs, who dominated the glass 33-16. Pavel Pumprla led
Nymburk with 19 points, Pavel Slezak scored 16 and Petr Benda had 14 in
defeat.

January 30, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 19: January 28-30, 2011
|
|
|
Only
three of the five teams that came into the weekend tied for first place
in the Adriatic League, Partizan mt:s, Union Olimpija and Krka Novo
Mest, won to remain atop the standings at 12-7. Partizan beat Zagreb CO
69-77 in a matchup of two teams entering the week at 11-7. With the
game tied early in the fourth quarter, Partizan reeled off 7 straight
points and soon took a double-digit lead on the way to sealing the win.
Rasko Katic and Curtis Jerrells scored 14 apiece and James Gist posted
12 points and 10 rebounds for Partizan. Luka Zoric carried Zagreb with
30 points.

January 23, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 18: January 21-23, 2011
|
|
|
A
wild weekend in the Adriatic League finished with a five-way tie for
first place. Partizan mt:s, Union Olimpija, Zagreb CO, Buducnost and
Krka Novo Mesto all boast 11-7 records. In fact, the difference between
first place and 12th place in the standings is just three wins, leaving
the race for the playoffs as tight as ever. Partizan set the stage by
beating Olimpija 61-50, knocking the Slovenian powerhouse from sole
possession of the top spot. James Gist scored 21 to pace the defending
champs, who took control by limiting Olimpija to just 5 first-quarter
points. Jan Vesely and Curtis Jessells added 9 each for Partizan.

January 23, 2011 - 18th Round report
|
|
|
The
number of candidates for four places at the 2011 NLB League Final Four
Tournament is increasing from week to week and after the 18th round
there are no less than five teams sharing the first place with at least
three more being only a step behind. Union Olimpija, which was alone on
the top until Saturday, lost the leading position due to the defeat
against Partizan. The Slovenians managed to make only 50 points in
Belgrade after the exhausting Euroleague's victory in Rome, while the
Croatian derby between the two city rivals Cibona and Zagreb
surprisingly finished in favor of the latter. Krka kept a place among
the best teams with a success against Nymburk, while Zadar suffered a
huge blow hosting Crvena zvezda at home. Buducnost celebrated a victory
against Siroki TT Kabeli while Cedevita knocked down Hemofarm Stada on
the road only few days after the defeat against the same opponent in
Eurocup. On Sunday, Igokea defeated Randicki at home.

January 16, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 17: January 15-16, 2011
|
|
|
Cibona
provided the biggest surprise in the Adriatic League this weekend by
edging Union Olimpija 75-84 in Ljubljana on Saturday. Cibona improved
to 8-9 while Olimpija is still first at 11-6. Leon Radosevic led the
winners with 24 points. Goran Vrbanc added 15 while Tomislav Zubcic had
11 for Cibona. Kenny Gregory led Olimpija with 19 points. Goran
Jagodnik added 17, Damir Markota had 12 while Vlado Ilievski got 10 for
the hosts, that led 43-41 at halftime. Cibona, led by an outstanding
Radosevic, rolled after the break to get a quality road win.

January 14, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 16: January 11-13, 2011

Union
Olimpija took down Krka Novo Mesto 75-80 on the road to grab sole
possession of first place in the Adriatic League. The foursome of
Kevinn Pinkney, Saso Ozbolt, Kenny Gregory and Vlado Ilievski did most
of the damage for Olimpija, which improved to 11-5 and leads second
place Partizan, Buducnost and Krka by one win. Things were not looking
good for Olimpija when it trailed 49-33 by halftime, but it battled
back and then Ozbolt sank the go-ahead three midway through the fourth
quarter and Pinkney added 5 points in a 0-10 run that made it 68-74, a
lead the visitors protected the rest of the way.

January 9, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 15: January 8-10, 2011
|
|
|
Union
Olimpija and Krka Novo Mesto remain the co-leaders of the Adriatic
League after each produced an impressive win, while Buducnost lost.
Meanwhile defending champ Partizan won its third straight road game to
keep one win behind the leaders. Olimpija routed Zadar 78-53 on
Saturday led by Damir Markota's 16 points and 8 rebounds to improve to
10-5. Vlado Ilievski added 15 points and Kenny Gregory had 14 for the
winners, who outscored the opposition by at least 8 points in each of
the first three quarters.

January 8, 2011 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 14: January 5-7, 2011
|
|
|
Buducnost
m:tel, Krka Novo Mesto and Union Olimpija tie atop the Adriatic League
standings each with a 9-5 record. Defending champion Partizan rallied
from an 18-point deficit to edge Buducnost 61-65 in Podgorica on
Saturday. Partizan improved to 8-6 to join a tie for fourth place.
Curtis Jerrells and Jan Vesely paced the winners with 12 points apiece.
Nathan Jawai added 11 for Partizan. Marko Scekic led Buducnost with 15
points. Bojan Dubljevic added 11 while Marko Simonovic had 10 for the
hosts, that led 24-6. Slowly but steadily, Partizan worked his way back
to the game and a fast break layup by Vesely completed his team's
comeback, 54-55. Buducnost managed to stay within 60-61 but a put-back
basket by James Gist and free throws by Jawai sealed the outcome down
the stretch.

December 28, 2010 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 13: December 23-28, 2010

|
Partizan
mt:s crushed rival Cibona 55-85 Tuesday to warp up the week's action in
the Adriatic League. The defending champs scored the game’s first 9
points and led from start to finish thanks to stifling defense and a
24-37 rebounding advantage. With the win Partizan improved to 7-6,
while Cibona fell to 5-8. James Gist paced Partizan with 24 points,
while Nathan Jawai added 16 and Curtis Jerrells 13.

December 19, 2010 - NLB League, Regular Season, Game 12: December 17-18, 2010
|

|
Partizan
mt:s smashed Krka Saturday, knocking it from a three-way tie for first
place in the Adriatic League and leaving Union Olimpija and Buducnost
atop the standings at 8-4. Olimpija bested Crvena Zvezda 80-67 behind
Goran Jagodnik, who came off the bench for 19 points in 19 minutes.
Olimpija led by double figures after one quarter and was up 53-36 at
halftime en route to the win.

December 12, 2010 - NLB League,
Regular Season, Game 11: December 11-12, 2010

Krka
Novo Mesto, Buducnost m:tel and Union Olimpija tie atop the Adriatic
League standings, each with a 7-4 record. Krka did not find much
trouble to down Cibona 87-64 in Novo Mesto on Saturday. Chris Booker
led the winners with 17 points. Leon Radosevic and Tomislav Zubcic led
Cibona with 18 points apiece. Rok Stipcevic added 17 for Cibona, that
led 17-25 after 10 minutes. It didn't last long, as Krka rallied to get
a 64-49 margin at the end of the third quarter, enough to control the
game for good.

Regular Season, Game 10: December 4-5, 2010

Krka
Novo Mesto, Cedevita, Buducnost, Hemofarm and Union Olimpija tie atop
the Adriatic League standings each at 6-4. In an all-Eurocup showdown,
Cedevita edged CEZ Nymburk 80-78 at home on Saturday. Dontaye Draper
and Corsley Edwards led the winners with 19 points apiece. Damjan Rudez
and Marino Bazdaric each added 13 for Cedevita. Afik Nissim led Nymburk
with 17 points. Radek Necas added 14, Ladislav Sokolovsky 13 and Pavel
Pumprla 12. It all came down to the final second, as Nissim missed a
free throw on purpose, Ales Chan grabbed the offensive board but a big
block by Edwards allowed Cedevita to win it.

Novo Mesto, Hemofarm Stada and Union Olimpija tie atop the Adriatic
League standings each with a 6-3 record. Five other teams, including
Buducnost m:tel, Cedevita and CEZ Nymburk, are right behind at 5-4.
Olimpija did not find much trouble to down Buducnost 68-53 in Ljubljana
on Saturday. Goran Jagodnik led the winners with 16 points. Vlado
Ilievski added 13 while Kenny Gregory and Damir Markota each had 12 for
Olimpija. Vladimir Dragicevic led Buducnost with 21 points. Olimpija
led 35-19 at halftime but Buducnost managed to get within 53-48 with 4
minutes left.

Hemofarm
Stada leads the Adriatic League standings with a 6-2 record, with CEZ
Nymburk, Buducnost m:tel, Cedevita and Union Olimpija right behind at
5-3 apiece. Hemofarm had to battle hard to edge Nymburk 86-85 in Vrsac
on Saturday. Milan Macvan and Jerome Jordan led the winners with 19
points apiece. Miljan Pavkovic added 12 while Boris Savovic had 11 for
Hemofarm. Afik Nissim led Hemofarm with 22 points. Ales Chan added 17,
Mike Lenzly had 13 while Pavel Pumprla got 12 for the guests, that led
59-71 with 8 minutes left.

November 14, 2010 - NLB League,
Regular Season, Game 7: November 13-14, 2010
|

|
Union
Olimpija, Hemofarm Stada and CEZ Nymburk tie atop the Adriatic League
standings, each with a 5-2 record. Olimpija thrashed Siroki TT Kabeli
107-70 behind 20 points from Saso Ozbolt. Marque Perry had 16, Sasu
Salin added 14 while Aloysius Anagonye and Giorgi Shermadini each got
10 for Olimpija, that led 67-37 at halftime and never looked back.
Hemofarm registered a 76-73 road loss against Zagreb. Damir
Mulaomerovic led Zagreb with 23 points. Milan Macvan had 18 points for
Hemofarm while Bojan Krstovic and Jerome Jordan each added 10 for the
guests, that rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to get a 64-67
edge.

Stada sits alone atop the Adriatic League standings after beating Union
Olimpija 84-74 in a top-of-the table clash. Milan Macvan scored 24
points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Bojan Krstovic added 19 for Hemofarm,
which improved to 5-1 and dropped Olimpija into a three-way tie for
second. Goran Jagodnik scored 18 and Vlado Ilievski 17 in defeat.
Joining Olimpija in second place are CEZ Basket Nymburk and Buducnost.
Nymburk edged Cibona 85-86 on an Afik Nissim buzzer-beater.

Regular Season, Game 5: October 29-31, 2010

Union
Olimpija bested Partizan Belgrade 75-73 in an all-Euroleague showdown
to wrap up Round 5 of the Adriatic League. Vlado Ilievski scored 18 and
Kevinn Pinkney 17 for the winners, who improved to 4-1 and share the
top spot in the league with Hemofarm Stada. The game came down to the
closing seconds with Partizan going ahead 72-73 on a pair of Dusan
Kecman free throws in the final minute. But Saso Ozbolt and Pinkey made
free throws on Olimpija's ensuing possessions, while Kecman missed on
Partizan’s last shot. Kecman led Partizan with 18 points.

Regular Season, Game 4: October 23-24, 2010
|

|
Cibona
handed Union Olimpija its first loss of the season in the Adriatic
League and joined a six-way tie for first place in the process. A pair
of Eurocup sides, CEZ Nymburk Hemofarm Stada and Buducnost m:tel, are
also tied for the top spot at 3-1. Cibona won its all-Euroleague
matchup 84-81 behind a 33-point effort from Bojan Bogdanovic. After a
Goran Jagodnik triple tied the game late, Mario Delas answered with a
three-point play to hand the hosts the victory. Tomislav Zubcic added
18 points for the winners, while Kevinn Pinkney paced Olimpija with 20.

October 21, 2010 - Euroleague
season started for NLB teams
|
|
|
Another
Turkish Airlines Euroleague season started also for the NLB League
teams on Wednesday when Union Olimpija played its inaugural game in
Ljubljana. It what might be called a classical duel between two
ex-team-mates, nowadays coaches Jure Zdovc (Olimpija) and Velimir
Perasović (Efes Pilsen) the hosts were successful but they needed two
over-times for celebrating the victory 95:90.

Four
teams - CEZ Basketball Nymburk, Zagreb CO, Union Olimpija and Cedevita

Olimpija with 17 points, including the go-ahead free throws down the
stretch. Cedevita stayed undefeated after 3 games by edging Cibona
70-68 at home on Saturday. Corsley Edwards led the winners with 18
points and 12 rebounds.

Olimpija, CEZ Basketball Nymburk, KK Buducnost, Cedevita and Zagreb CO
are the only Adriatic League teams with two wins from two games.
Olimpija topped Zadar on the road 66-72 as Vlado Ilievski peppered the
nets for 20 points and Saso Ozbolt fired in 17. Nymburk came from
behind to best Radnicki 82-87 thanks to Petr Benda's 24 points and 19
from Tre Simmons.

it is. The new NLB League season 2010/11 will start on Friday with the
inaugural game between Hemofarm Stada and Cibona while the whole first
round is stretched through three days and will finish on Sunday, when
Zagreb host Radnički.

The permanent wild-card was traditionally given to Budućnost, another
one went to the NLB League newcomer Nymburk while the other ten clubs
qualified through their national championships: Union Olimpija, Krka
(both Slovenia), Cibona, Cedevita and Zadar (all Croatia), Široki
Eronet (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Partizan, Crvena zvezda, Radnički and
Hemofarm Stada (all Serbia).
