Basketball is a sport that's played at the professional level by many different leagues. The NBA is the most popular professional basketball league, but there are also many other leagues that have their own unique styles and traditions. This article will cover some of the best basketball leagues in the world, including their history and style of play.

National Basketball Association (NBA)

The NBA is the biggest basketball league in the world, with 30 teams based in America and Canada. The teams are based in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, New York, Boston, and Toronto. A basketball season runs from October to April each year.

EuroLeague

EuroLeague is a men's professional basketball club competition. EuroLeague is an international professional basketball competition. EuroLeague is the most prestigious and highest level of club competition in Europe, with teams from 18 different countries on 2 continents (Europe and Asia). Euroleague has a total of 24 teams that are divided into two groups: A1 with 16 teams and A2 with 8 teams. The season format consists of a regular season, Top 16 stage and play-offs (Final Four). Each team plays each other twice in the regular season, once at home and once away; the top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

The first ever winner was Maccabi Tel Aviv which they won back in 1955 when it was called FIBA European Champions Cup Competition.

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)

The NCAA is the authority on college basketball in the United States.

The NCAA's Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments are played every year, with 64 teams currently competing to win the national championship. The top seeds in each tournament are awarded automatic bids as "conference champions," while other schools must win an at-large bid to earn a spot in their respective tournament.

Chinese Basketball Association (CBA)

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), founded in 1995, is China's professional basketball league. The CBA currently has 20 teams competing against each other. The average salary for these players is $1.3 million per year. Players come from all over the world to play here—from as far away as Australia and Brazil to more nearby countries such as Canada and New Zealand.

International Basketball Federation (FIBA)

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is the governing body for international basketball. It organizes the world basketball championships and oversees the rules of play.

The Federation was established in 1932, based in Geneva, Switzerland. It has 213 national federations and organizes all major international competitions such as the FIBA Basketball World Cup and FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup tournaments.

Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)

The WNBA is the top women's basketball league in the world. The league was founded in 1996 and currently has 12 teams, with each playing a 34-game schedule from May to September of each year. The league has an average attendance of 7,000 people per game for its games at home arenas across North America. Since its inception over two decades ago, WNBA salaries have increased steadily as more sponsorships have become available due to increased popularity among fans worldwide—and it doesn't look like this growth will slow down anytime soon!
