Which NBA teams will make it to the second round of the playoffs?
April 25, 2022
The first round of the NBA playoffs has had its share of thrilling
sequences, but the second round has the potential to deliver even more
breathtaking sequences with some of the favorite teams according to this Thai news website.
That being said, taking into account team strengths, weaknesses, and
potential matchups, let's rank the top six teams that will most likely
advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
6. Philadelphia 76ers, No. 4 seed
You'll definitely be in the second round if you have Joel Embiid, a
7-foot do-it-all center who can dribble or off the bounce. This season,
the 76ers have featured one of the most dynamic and dominant centers in
history. So, why are they ranked 6th?
The biggest worry is how they will survive without him. Paul Millsap
and DeAndre Jordan two stars who were out of the rotation on
their previous teams this year have received opportunities, but both
are no-longer lethal like they used to be.
5. Toronto Raptors, No. 5 seed
led by a potential All-NBA team member Pascal Siakam
and 2022 all-Star Fred VanVleet, the Raptors pose a threat because they
are deadly in the wings, the most important position for versatility in
the NBA.
OG Anunoby, Siakam, Scottie Barnes, Yuta Watanabe, Gary Trent Jr,
Thaddeus Young and Chris Boucher are all versatile and skilled wings.
4. Boston Celtics, No. 2 seed
At the wing positions, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are a dangerous
duo. Marcus Smart and Derrick White will be difficult for opposing
guards to overcome. In the frontcourt, Robert Williams III, Al Horford,
Grant Williams, and Daniel Theis each bring unique strengths.
Furthermore, with first-year head coach Ime Udoka's system in place,
the C's have the league's top-ranked defense and are strong at every
position, making them a force to be reckoned with.
3. Memphis Grizzlies, No. 2 seed
Memphis is similar to what Phoenix was last year: a young squad that
outperformed expectations thanks to excellent coaching. It would not be
shocking if the Grizzlies went on a similar deep run as the Suns. The
only difference is that last year's Suns relied only on Paul,
their best player, to set the pace. Memphis does not rely on its best
player, Ja Morant. Actually, they beat a healthy Suns team on
April 1 without Morant.
2. Milwaukee Bucks, No. 3 seed
With Brook Lopez, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton still in the starting lineup, the 2021 champions will be competitive.
Antetokounmpo demonstrated his ability to lead a team to victory, while
Middleton and Holiday established themselves as reliable second and
third options. Any opponent will find it difficult to defeat a 4
time-Giannis-led team.
1. Phoenix Suns, No. 1 seed
The Suns have what it takes to not only make it to the second round but
also win it all. They are resilient, consistent and lack any tangible
weaknesses. This Suns team is also a favorite according to this Thai
news website.
They worked on roster weaknesses (Torrey Craig and Landry Shamet at the
wing spots and Bismack Biyombo and JaVale McGee at backup
center). They also got inhouse improvements from youngsters
(Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges a DPOY candidate, and Cameron Johnson a
6MOY candidate).
There you have it. The top 6 teams that are likely to make it to the
second round. You can bet on your favorite team on reliable sites like
